Topic: Vienna

I will be spending a few days in Hungary for work and will fly back to the lowlands from Vienna on Sunday morning. This gives me the oppertunity to enjoy some Saturday evening/night in Vienna, if there's any going on. I welcome your suggestions.

Re: Vienna

i have neither been to the location yet, nor at the event series, but i know the dj, and that's why music-wise i would recommend "heaven" at "camera club", that is, if you don't mind going to a gay event. there you will get - in the smaller room - italo disco, and not just any italo disco, but excellent one. see http://www.camera-club.at.

depending on what you're into you might also consider fixmer/mccarthy at the viper club, though here what to expect is a gothic crowd.

for the more conventional type of electronic entertainment, "resolut" at "fluc wanne" would be an option.

for a complete listing of things going on see http://www.hauptstadt.at.

And thank you for the party flyer for sylvester. how serious will it be with the "abendrobe"? I didn't bring my suit for christmas :S. So if you see a drunk underdressed bavarian there, you can be shure he would like to invite you for a drink!

i'm not in direct contact with the organisers, so to be honest i can't tell how serious the dresscode will be taken. however, i would be really really surprised if they wouldn't let you in, especially if you mention that you're a visitor to Vienna. if i will be there then i will be underdressed as well (as i feel awful in suits)... so if you recognize the other underdressed party guest, be sure that he will happily accept your invitation for a drink ;-)

Re: Vienna

perfekt, looking forward then!

and thanks echolot for the hint!

Re: Vienna

had a blast at the ragnarhof, but with so many people "underdressed" i could not tell who you are. we went on to the drugged out wurstsalon when the party was over and i still had to recover yesterday.

vienna will shurely see me again some time soon.

glad you liked it! was there too and enjoyed it. took a look around to see if somebody could be recognized as robot, but that would have been too many candidates to ask...

i'll be happy for a more specific meeting next time...

Re: Vienna

I love the city. I was in vienna in 1982. Very long time ago. I will come back - for sure.

Re: Vienna

I'm gonna be in Austria for two weeks, starting tomorrow. Will probably be busy as hell, but I've managed to make sure I have the last weekend off, which I will be spending in Vienna. So, any recommendations for 22-24th October? Parties, exhibitions, restaurants, anuthing really. It's my first time to Austria smile

Re: Vienna

was there last weekend. check out these two places for parties: http://www.cafe-leopold.at/?n=1 and http://www.pratersauna.tv/site/default.aspx. i went to a party at cafe leopold and was fun, but better check programme for the weekend you'll be there.

for really good brunch i would recommend http://www.cafederprovinz.at/ if up for crepes, waffles, cheese, good tea and coffee, that's the place to be. eat as much as you can and better make reservations wink

i will be there too!
just a small bar, and the sound is not too good (you need to get close to the speakers), but music-wise it quite certainly will be joyous! (and btw, the bar's atmosphere is nice and relaxed).

more info:

- transporter bar location
- disco frisco

Perfect! smile

Re: Vienna

Iwill be in Wien from 19th of January for about a week, any recommendations or available local robots for a coffee?

Re: Vienna

not in town, but my favourite places are mainly bars who have good dj's.
Check out, http://www.donautechno.com, just saw TJ hicks is still spinning there from time to time, excellent dj.
Electro goenner is nice one too, http://www.elektro-g.at/ .
Tongues seems to be a nice new recordstore, it's in the discogs list above.

Re: Vienna

@mekonin:

for sightseeing: just move a long the "Ring", there you will be able so see some nice old buildings and you get a certain feeling for vienna. also take a walk through the prater(its a big allyear fairy and also a big park) or just go to stephansplatz and the little streets around that.

for traditional food: backstube.at/ or just get into a traditional restaurant to get a good schnitzel.

for records: just check out this link: http://www.discogs.com/groups/topic/86324

for party: pratersauna, fluc, grelle forelle and flex.. are the biggest clubs. just google it.
there are also some great disco/italo partys: just google clubt hot shit and disco frisco.

If you like you can attend my party, I can put you on the friendslist:

Re: Vienna

Thanks for the suggestions, Tongues record store seems really nice, and I already noted your party, MD!
If I get the chance to come to it, I will contact you, but please, no guest lists. I want to pay for the entrance.

I already made a list of the famous sights to visit, mostly popular tourist places, but I would love to visit the Flohmarket on Saturday and Narrenturm hospital seems very interesting.

Re: Vienna

Yeah you have to go the the Flohmarket at Naschmarkt. There you will find a classic fleatmarket and the nachmarket itself is a very nice market with wonderful food. Narrenturm is also a great spot. Write me a private message when you are in vienna and if my time allows it I will you give some more advice and maybe we can meet.

Re: Vienna

I'm here for the entire July. Used to live here but it's been 5 years. If there's any insane party going on that I shouldn't miss out on please let me know. If someone's in need of Robot hosting here just hit me up.

Re: Vienna

any good records store in vienna?
btw the discogs list seems not relevant (not updated)
