Re: Amiga and C64 gaming.

I found Another World really hard, could only get to maybe level 3 but I remember it was really good.
Chaos Engine was great, as were most of those Bitmap Bros games. Just looked so great.

Haha i remember before i got an amiga of my own i used to sit at a friends house and play silk worm on his 500. if he was home or not didn't matter and his mum brought me milk and cookies. i miss the tetra copy gatherings also.

and yeah Chaos engine was a masterpiece, great music and gfx style.

I liked Alien breed also.

Re: Amiga and C64 gaming.

Ha funny, I never knew Tetra copy, let alone there was gatherings for them. A guy we got our games from made a copy-tetris combination called 'Dave Copy'. When you opened it, it had a sample that said 'd-d-d-d-d-Dave Copy' so childishly we always referred to the guy as 'd-d-d-d-d-Dave'.

Re: Amiga and C64 gaming.

well it was like all the guys met up at someones house like once a month and eveyone had a set of fresh floppy discs and we a had couple or more amigas there with tetra copy (or whatever copy app we had at the time) which worked hard to see that everyone had the latest stuff. one of these "meetings" was where i discovered electronic music as one of my mates dad played it for us. lots of Kraftwerk, chicago house and detroit techno. those days were really cool.

...ahem

"As the Mad Doctor, you decide you'd like to build yourself a monster. To do this you must find body parts for your monster. To get these you can dig up graves or stealthily attack lone walkers late at night and beat the stuffing out of them. Then you take them back to your castle and either finish them off or lock them in your little dungeon until you're ready to 'request' their assistance in your endeavour."

Dune II

this is amongst the top three games i've ever played in my life.

another one, not on the amiga or C64, is the marathon trilogy on the mac. the first part came out in '94 and set the standard for 3d ego shooters with a storyline while all the peecee kids kept on playing brainless games like doom.

Holy shit. No one here played Moonstone? I think that was the game, along with Cannon Fodder, Wings, Settlers and Civilization that had me planted by the amiga all of my waking hours. All you do is travel the land, fight different beasts in different settings, buy equipment, fight more shit, fight dragons and sometimes other knights... it's awesome!
http://www.bhlegend.com/screenshots/Ami … t%2001.gif

Fuck, Moonstone ruled...so gory. And the graphics kicked ass for it's time too.
Especially rocked in 4 player mode, holy shit my pals and I used to get competetive over that shit

other amiga favs for me:

Zool, Putty, Arabian Nights, Syndicate, International Karate IK++, The Chaos Engine, Speedball II, Pinball Dreams (though it was a love/hate relationship with this because my dad was HOOKED on it hard and used to hog the amiga for hours at a time), Gods, Monkey Island 1 & 2 (hilarious...and great soundtracks), Sensible Soccer, Skidmarks, Silkworm, SWIV, and uhhhh there was another vertically scrolling shooter quite similar to SWIV with music that totally ruled but the name is not coming to mind.

Fuck I could probably think of a shitload more Amiga games...wish I still had mine
fuck amiga game music used to rule too

Hybris, Jetstrike, Defender

does anyone remember this game...where you were like a swat team or something, and the first mission you are trying to sneak into a building while avoiding being detected by spotlights...that was cool

Re: Amiga and C64 gaming.

Hey if anyone needs kickstart roms for amiga emulators, let me know. I had a hard time finding them, but it was worth it wink

I spent the whole last year of my studying playing Pirates! and Panza kick boxing on WinUAE emulator.
Also International Karate on C64

Warped my right back to my childhood.

Re: Amiga and C64 gaming.

My favorite games on the Amiga & C64 that I can think of now:

Pirates! (Also on the C64 that was good...maybe even better) I heard rumours there is going to be a Nintendo DS version of it...that would be cool finally a good game on that thing

Stunt Car Racer (Again also both on the Amiga and C64 that was good) How the fuck could they make better realistic 3D gravity feel on a C64 then many of todays XBOX PS5 blahlblabalbaa

M1 Tank Platoon on the Amiga, first the waiting for the wall of soviet tank divisons coming towards your feeble tank platoon on the silent german fields and then...the dirtyness of intense realistic TANK COMBAT....especially the sound effects were really scary...metal clanning and heavy casualties everywhere

and Elite for the C64 (There was also an Amiga version I think) if guys like this
http://archive.gamespy.com/halloffame/september00/elite/elite05a.jpg
program a game you can rest assure its good

Re: Amiga and C64 gaming.

Pirates is the shit but wth, there are lots of cool games on the DS like Castlevania n shit.. Oh yrah and stunt car racer was extra cool with 2 amigas + 2 tv's and a null modem.

CRACKED BY MR. Z...

Re: Amiga and C64 gaming.

Pirates on the DS, that would be awesome. I was happy that Settlers came to the DS, but it has some nasty bugs sad
Speaking of, I'm not really keeping track of what is or gets released on the DS, but are there any other Amiga-era releases for it?

Yeah stunt car was race was good. But the graphics gave me a bit of a headache if I played it too long.

Re: Amiga and C64 gaming.

Castlevania is for little Japanese girls, real men play text adventures BMX, you know that

That settlers for the Nintendo DS is a disgrace, I am still sorry I got that for you (but for reconciliation I got it myself too later)...supposedly you can't continue at a certain point due to some major bug or bad game design....I was too lazy to bring it back to the games shop.

I tried to find a M1 tank platoon youtube movie but all I got were M1's in iraq and this one http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=1GJ-0-K2v3A
