Topic: monopoly arpeggio trigger

Im trying to trigger the arpeggio on my mono/poly.

Im going out from 707 rim trig into the arp trig on the MP.  tried with my 727 as well.

Aint triggering shit!

What could i be doing wrong here?

It'll trigger a note when i plug the cable into the 707...but thats it.  No real triggering going on here.

Re: monopoly arpeggio trigger

i'm pretty sure your mono/poly, like all Korgs needs a trigger which goes from high to low (z-trigger)
Roland gear and most others put out an low to high trigger (s-trigger)

from hyperreal http://machines.hyperreal.org/features/before-midi.html

"As with gate, triggers come in v-trigger and s-trigger. Most equipment uses a v-trigger, but occasional triggers (the arpeggio input on the Korg Mono/Poly, and the trigger output on the Korg DDM-110, for example) are s-trigger. "

Re: monopoly arpeggio trigger

thats what i was kind of thinking.

time to drop the cash on a kenton i guess

Re: monopoly arpeggio trigger

I've had best results using a sampled snare from my DAW. Make sure the level is high enough to trigger. I was having the same problem and then realized my signal was too low.

Re: monopoly arpeggio trigger

maybe you better sell it to me?

Re: monopoly arpeggio trigger

like dez says you can trigger the mono/poly without proper s-trigger, just using the right sound.
I've had better luck triggering a mono/poly arpeggio with a rimshot sound from an 808, rather than a trigger from the same (whch is pretty much like the trig signal on the 707 i think...?)
maybe you can trigger it tightly using one of the individual outputs of the 707 or 727?

Re: monopoly arpeggio trigger

using a snare sample currently and its working well.   snare on 707 will trigger too.

thanks for the tips.

Re: monopoly arpeggio trigger

yeh - mp4 arp trigger is tricky - i can get mine to trigger from the gate out on my 101, but not my 303 gate or 909 trigger.  I generally use a sample too.  awesome synth tho

Re: monopoly arpeggio trigger

the jacks on the back of the monopoly can be a bit flakey too.. sometimes wiggling the cable can help but you will want a s-trig (high to low) for tighter timing

CHD is offering now a MIDIINTERFACE for the MONO/POLY:

Re: monopoly arpeggio trigger

is this an easy install?  (my experience is limited.)

just picked up a mono/poly and am very impressed by the sound.  very dirty and raw...  so far, liking it better than the pro-one or sh-101.

Re: monopoly arpeggio trigger

you need some soldering-skills - but you do not need to be a PRO - this job is done within 25 minutes if you do not want to drill a hole into yor mono/poly its going much faster...the arp/clock option is just a fast job - you need to cut the wire from the ARP-CLOCK-IN and solder 2 wires of the midiinterface between the cut-points - that

Re: monopoly arpeggio trigger

I got one for the Jupiter 4 and can't reccomend it enough, the price was good, my tech did the install for less than 100$ and said it was easy.

In the case of the Jp-4 it's really as if the MIDI sent to it was playing the keys in the sense that it keeps the same arp, voice allocations etc as when played manually.

It really transformed how I use the synth.

Re: monopoly arpeggio trigger

is it possible to play the mono/poly in poly mode with this midi interface?
i have a kenton pro solo for my mp, but polyfonic play would be ultracool!

Re: monopoly arpeggio trigger

yes, it is.. thats why i got it too..

Re: monopoly arpeggio trigger

come to think of it, m/p even has a switch for trigger polarity

Re: monopoly arpeggio trigger

yeah, but only for the gate in/out, but not for the arp clock in

Re: monopoly arpeggio trigger

S-trigger on the arp input should work fine.
Make this cable from 707 trigger out to MP arp input.
