They made him look like change in start and give young generation some hook but no way - hes just as militarist-patriotist as presidents before.  Maybe 15% less than mccain and 10% less than bush. hooray..

Yeah, I am not happy about Obama's pro-military views either, but he has to be that way in order to get elected.

Americans are more afraid of peace than war unfortunately. A peaceful president would never get elected, not now anyway. There's more a chance of Obama becoming more pro-peace once he is in office than McCain. I am actually kind of hoping this is Obama's way of pandering to the middle and he doesn't really mean it.

I get the feeling that Obama is the kind of guy, if enough Americans and even the rest of the world spoke up against something, he would listen.

europe's got no military power? BS. maybe it's not as grossly overblown as the US but france and the UK even have nukes. again, maybe not the amount to blow this whole damn place in pieces a hundred times over but still enough to make a point.

russia and china aren't exactly democracy poster childs. so far you're right. but, did you ever consider that china is more interested in doing business with the west than taking it over? you don't like russia's version of "democracy"? it's their problem, not yours. russians seem to have this need for a strong leader and i don't see that changing anytime soon. the russian army? a threat maybe to the numerous ex-soviet countries that went independent or try to go that way. again, not your problem. a threat to the high and mighty western poster child democracies (yes, i'm being sarcastic)? BS. no fucking way.

iran. did it ever occur to you that they have a point being pissed off at the so called "free world" that fucked them over more than once? if not you must be blind to historical facts. afraid? no. cautious? yes, absolutely. again, invading/nuking them won't make the situation any better. it'll turn the lifes of millions of civilians who in fact aren't exactly followers of their regime into an even darker nightmare.

if the west don't keep up their military power, russia will quite quickly become something to be very scared of. that country is generally fucked up, and i mean really. they desperately want their empire back and their citizens are being groomed for all out war. how badly does the US and EU want to stop them? ok the french and uk have nukes, but i'm not so sure they would actually use them. besides, if it comes to nuke tossing, most probably the first one who launches the missiles 'wins'.

the west is in decline, both economically and culturally. and sadly to say, it's the stronger nations who do the fucking. i do not want to live in a society were i have less freedoms and must practice religion or some crap. i would rather be fucked by the lesser of the two, which happens to let me live in relative peace and freedom.

we've been living in a golden age of peace for the past 60 years, and hell yeah i want it to continue. but the reason why it lasted for so long is because of the one-polar world, ie the west being the strongest. when the berlin wall came down everyone thought russia was out for good.
