is that the one that does great great strings?

the korg lambda definitely does amazing strings. the delta looks a little different, looks like it has some kind of synthesizer component as well as preset string stuff...bet its pretty cool!
i know the yamaha sk series also has preset string/organ stuff along w/ a basic synthesizer component - does anyone know how they sound?

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

First softsynth. Always been kind of a snob about them but a friend has one and it blew my ass off. Haven't bothered with it as a vsti yet. Have just been playing it standalone through midi and the mixer.

If lovin its wrong I don't want to be right.

Of course I'd rather have a real one. But I don't have 3 grand, am weary of buying old things except locally and for a softsynth this thing is ridiculously wonderful. Got some thump too. Their version of the Odyssey sounds nice too.

Most real oscars are a nightmire.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

are they?
somehow they always attracted me. are they any good?

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

If you buy one you probbaly need a technican to resolder all connectors and do something about the midiboard and the buggy ic holders/connectores.

Today I sold one of these:

and bought one of these:

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

I'm assuming the JX8P made up a percentage of the cost of the Microwave XTk. Otherwise that's the deal of the century. Is that the exact one you bought? Have only seen them in orange.

I love Waldorf synths. They don't sound like anything else. I have a Q Rack and Pulse and they are hella dope. That's another of the ones I want.

Note to self. Don't buy Oscar unless super good deal. I hate super buggy synths. They bring down my day.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

the XT shadow edition is pretty rare. I've only ever seen two in person, and one of them was the one I bought. apparently there were only 666 of the shadow edition made worldwide. but to be honest, I like the look of the orange one better...
:-)

yeah, I spent more money on the microwave XT than I made selling the jx8p... now the hard part of the whole deal is I have to sell my XTk (the orange keyboard version) I only got the XT because it means I can get rid of the XTk and save a bit of studio space for my upcoming move, but not lose any synthesis abilities. But I seem to really like having the microwave xt in a keyboard format... oh well.
:-(

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

I'm pretty drunk since I got home from a bachelor party.

While waiting for friends downtown I went to one of my favortie pawnshops and got a Boss DR-55 and Boss PC-2 Percussion Synthesizer for $60 Canadian combined. In boxes, with PSU for PC-2.

http://resource.harshnoise.com/boss_pc-2.jpg

Feel kind bad since it's run by two super old people. You just tell them what you want to pay and they're pretty much good. I said $50, they said $60 done deal.

They have a mint Crumar Multiman that I've thought about but I already have a Solina. And a weird old ace tone mixer and hr16/mmt 8 combo. I'm sure I'll be back soon enough.

Yeah I saw that. People are paying way too much these days for anything analog. It does lots of awesome bleeps and bloops and 303 emulation.

I had fun with it tonight. It's alright. Apparently, Green Velvet made "Percolator" with it. It's definitely got that "zipper" sound to it. Pretended I was Plastikman and The Chemical Brothers tonight. Don't have anything else that really does acid and modular like noise well so I'll probably keep it. Really rippin though.

I was hoping the ext input would process sounds but anything you put in just triggers the synth.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

Holy crap I'm on a rampage this week but I couldn't turn this down for $300 this morning. A local friend is selling some of his gear and letting this go cheap because the PWM "is a little wonky." But whatever. No shipping, no hassle. I love buying local. He's throwing in the "202 Hack" software as well.

Get it Thursday night.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

aaaah... I miss my old 202 too. they're fun little fellas.

seems like I've been on a bit of a gear rampage this week too.....

this showed up in the post yesterday
http://www.encoreelectronics.com/images/img_frontsmall.gif

so I had fun last night hooking it up, and sequencing a few synths. Very cool and flexible and I haven't even begun to scratch the surface of what it can do.

now no more buying stuff till I sell more things. really.
