22 snares... You'll need a harp next
I think our welfare state creates a lot of broke musicians
Congrats Plikes! I had a 1st gen. Solina, it didn't have a trigger and gate out, and it was mono, I think the 2nd gen added gate/triggeer interface, 3rd was stereo and 4th just lighter, can anyone confirm?
I sold mine to David Sardy and I can swear I heard it on Zombieland
I later bought an Omni II and that CAN be heard on Arcade Fire's The Suburbs.
I always wanted to compare the two side by side, they're supposed to sound very similar.
I always thought they sounded very similar. i got into a conversation with mark burgess from the chameleons once and asked him about the synth they used on Script of the Bridge and he said it was a Solina, we tried to find one on ebay but no luck so we ended up getting an Omni II.
We have a second omni2 in sorta-bad shape, some funky stuff going on with the release, but we're thinking about selling it.
@mule driver, we use a 12-string emulator stomp box, less complicated, way more robot.
btw, i love those photos of mono and his suitcase of noise!
I kind of regret selling the Omni.
They're not that hard to repair, but it takes time to replace tantalum caps and ic's. Now that I have a good tech I'd go for one again if I could find one at a reasonable price. They are indeed built like tanks, think sheet metal all over.
I liked the omni better, because you could do a bassline from a JD song with the last notes on the bass sound. It looks nicer too
Got the CR-8000 in the mail today. A lot of fun, and I do love its clap. Not sure how badly I need it already having an 808 but for the price I paid I am very pleased.
No, they're not identical which is why I really like it. The CR-8000s seems thinner, more mettallic and though it's probably the sequencer's doing it seems stiffer to me. I programmed a bunch of beats and will probably keep it. It's like a ghetto version of an 808 and I can get with it. Especially since it will sync up nicely with my 808, 707, Kawai R100 and modular.
currently being built, ready in a few weeks
Although mine get a bit of a change in panel layout
Jurgen Haible designs are just out of this world stuff
I like the cr8000 clap very much, its more noisey and softer than a 808 or 909.. it doesnt have that same crackling sound but a bit more like a drumsynth.. hard to describe but they arent indentical..
few more s01 Scamp compressors ..ta taaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
yeah Tony!!
i sold mine dbx 160x and drawmer 241 week ago and replaced with more S01
this s01 are actually best thing i ever heard for agressive compressor!!!
I had distressors and 1178 and some other fet compressors in past!!! i got in love with my compex boxes and then i discovered SCAMP
and some of them are killer stuff!!!
S01 is far best compressor for drums EVER!!!!
S24 i think is BBD delay flanger sampler with legendary SAD ICs just must have ... friend have 2 i have non..im after one!!
and S04 is eq that is really good for fine tuning of sound!!!
I just love em!!!
bye-bye moog taurus II (and some $$)
hello mono evolver keyboard!
@no-fi
what?!!?!? you sold a Taurus II for a mono evolver? Sorry mate but I wouldn't have done it....
the only question I have is: why? Why? WHY?!?!?!?!?
I'm joking, but I would have never done it I know it is not the MkI, but still... if you filtered it through a serious chain
of preamps and effects you could boost it a lot...
a.
ibanez dm-1100 delay - not really new but just now plugged into the mixer after a while from gettin this off of a friends dad that used to play guitar with it. it's pretty neat i like it and its only effects i have beside my kp mini.
Taurus II is one of the less interesting moog nachines.
It's "just" a Rogue without keys.
Impulse purchase :

I'm pretty confident it's an easy fix, and my tech will probably change a few thing while he's in there. I long for a quiet stereo spring reverb...

Orban is nice!
Krohn-Hite 330-A tuneable bandpass filter.
It's my second one.
I liked the taurusII, and I kinda miss it.... but I have better synths, and it wasn't my only moog.
As for the MEK, well, I had one of the 2nd batch of original evolver desktops, and I liked everything about it, except the programming interface. I sold it a few years ago with the plan to get an MEK someday, it just took longer than I thought. And I'm loving having an evolver again. This thing is exactly what I wanted for all those years I was struggling to use the old desktop model. it's a really cool and unique synth with all the features and things it can do. And with a decent collection of knobs to control it, it's just great fun.
unfortunately I do have about 3 not so great encoders to deal with, and I really need to do something about those blue LEDs, they're killing me. I think they need to turn orange. So I'll be in there doing some work on the front panel sometime soon. (But then again I spent a couple of hours in the taurus II cleaning out foam goo when I got that, too...)

Nope note at all.
