Re: What new booty have you acquired?
hej rude - the AXXE is great - simple but a fantastic sounding lead-synth...also cool for reso-basslines and fx - not that fat as an oddy, but the filter is the same - so you can

I think the AXXE sounds fatter then most oddies, a more fuller tone or something
hmm.... i have an oddy mk3 and the axxe mk2 ... in my opinion the axxe do not sounds really fatter/fuller then one OSZI from the oddy....for sure not the same....but also not that much different...
When I bought an Axxe I was really impressed by its full tone and then I thought wow an Oddy is that but twice and duophonic etc. So I saved up for one but it was kind of a dissapointment...the Oddies I had sounded much thinner though I had the white one and later the Black Gold one.
But then again there are so many different sounding oddies, my old Avatar (which is basicly an oddy too) always sounded much fatter then all the oddies I had.
I sold all those and only kept the Axxe, I even thought of buying 2 Axxe's so I could have a super Oddy
My favorite ARP must be the Pro Soloist though, that thing sounds so beautifull
yeah you are right.....not every oddy sounds like the other - so there might be lot of differences after near 30 years...
for sure the AXXE is a great synth - also very fat - but the oddy has so much features, which made a monster out of it. the axxe is very limited but has a great full sound...

the AXXE (old version) is still hi on my list, the audio input is massive with 808's and stuff...
Pro/DGX is a good machine.
I know a guy who is developing a midi kit for it.
That 550 sounds fair imho.
was also looking for a PRO/DGX a few months ago - but it
The Filtek MK3 is picked up today after a little repair and in the recording setup added.
It's tempting, I wish it had CV inputs though.
Do you mean CV/GATE? It isn't a synth that will sound good sequenced externally, the whole thing about the Pro Soloist and DGX is the keyboard and how it plays the sounds. You can play them very expressively with aftertouch and all kinds of crazy stuff.
Also know that its more of a preset machine, you can't really change the sounds that much...the presets are hardwired inside but some of them are quite complex (like you can't make them on a Oddy for example)
but its a lot of fun and kind of like a real instrument feel to it.
The synth solo in this one
http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=khm1rm_AWBI sounds very much like the French Horn preset on it
and Patrick Adams and stuff like that
Yeah it does seem like a keyboard meant to be played, I think I'll pass.
I have a Jupiter 4 and I used to say that it didn't matted that it couldn't be sequenced because it's great to play it.
But then I got a midi kit installed on it and I LOVE to sequence it!
SO now I want CV/gate or MIDI on every synth I have!
Does someone know if there'S a way to have CV/gate or midi on a Roland RS-09?
I finaly get monitors: event tr-8xl. i guess i will have fun with this.
And some boss efx too: 2xcompressor, reverb, and pitch shifter.
In fact that my soundcard has not enough inputs, i need a mixing desk! Has anybody some 16channel thing for cheap???
what kind is that pitch shifter?
Lawo W995-8 equalizers.
kurzweil expressionmate.
I always wanted one of these to play with. well, I finally found one!
One evening of mucking about with it and reading the manual is doing my head in though - this thing does so much more than I expected! so many things to try out and experiment with...
Dr. Rythm...& Sync hack on the way
A classic. The hand clap is the shizz.
I've been crazy busy lately. Last Saturday I drove across town for a Kijiji ad that had an Yamaha Electone Organ and Yamaha SY-1 for sale for $300 combined. I've wanted one of the PASS Electones so I went out there and it wasn't the Electone I wanted. But damn, they were both in perfect museum shape. The SY-1 looked so good. I offered him $200 for just the SY-1 but he said it wasn't about the cash it was about getting the organ out so he said no. I would have made an effort it was the Electone I wanted but it's a pain to get a friend with a van so I passed.
BUT
I weaved my way downtown and hit some pawn shops. And I found an A16 Ultra Creamware A/D/A + Cubase LE + Creamware Scope (no PCI card though) for $100 Cdn! I was pretty excited when I got home but sad when I found out that I wouldnt be able to use it with my system. But I felt better when I sold the A/D/A on Ebay for $600 US.
I used the cash to buy the Pearl Drum-X mentioned in another thread, 2 Rane SM-82s and some records.
A few weeks ago I sold a couple of extra M64Cs that I got for free with a JX-10 (he included 4) for $200 US on Kijiji and then used the cash to buy an R-8m with Electronic and Dance cards ($150) plus some records.
Resold the two cards for $175, still have the R-8m and bought a weird lttle monkey from Roland called the M-VS1 ($150) and some records. With sysex editing it really shines apparently.
Been busy. Hopefully things can slow down for a bit. But it was nice that the pawn shop fluke helped me augment my studio a little more.
Waldorf Blofeld. Won on ebayz
At last I have a wavetable synth. Not really the one I wanted but value of au$ leaves little options at the moment.
Vermona Drm 1 mk2
good to see the dumb terminal stuff has landed....
expecting a microkorg any day now.
