Buchla 200e Black Hole in 010 lately I see
Yeah for my franken buchla system 100/200/200e mixed together
Now if my tech just finished my cabinet
Edcor audio-matching transformers:
http://www.edcorusa.com/products/148-wsm10k-10k.aspx
I just did a frequency response and THD sweep and they're super clean, not to mention 1/6th the price of a Jensen for close to the same performance (as spec'd by the prodigy-pro.com audio engineers). They're made in the USA if that matters to anyone
I'm going to mount them in a 19" case with 1/4" jacks so I can patch in whatever I want through them, eg. outputs from my modular into my audio interface, as an input/output to my EQ or GSSL compressor, etc. You can get some nice harmonics by pushing them hard, or use them as isolation transformers like in a DI-box.
If anybody in Europe wants them cheap (9 euro each!) you can get them from the Belgian Edcor distributor:
Tony de Block <tony.deblock AT telenet DOT be>
(the Edcor distributor also has other ones besides 10K:10K and 600:600 - ask to see what he has!)
I bought the Yamaha AN1X, as I told already in the "Should I buy" thread...
Sadly, at the moment I still have mixed feelings about it. I like the sound variety and so on, and I think I can cope with the programming, it's not THAT hard...
...but what really bothers me is that you can hear the bad resolution of the controllers. I read about that already, so I was already aware of it, but I didn't expect it to be that bad, also what I really don't understand is that even the pitch and the mod wheel have such a bad resolution! I also intended to use it as a master keyboard, because all my gear gets controlled by the MPC. But I wonder if I'll really use it for that. I always thought the MIDI pitch bend message (and also mod wheel) have a resolution of +- 8192, but this feels like having less than +- 127! It's really weird sounding...
I'm a bit disappointed, but I'll give it a chance. The sounds are great, but the MIDI stuff is really shitty... I'm glad to know that I can always sell it for the same price again, though I initially thought this might become one of these things that I will keep forever (which most of my stuff applies to)... well, let's see
Bummer ZeHa. I was hoping it was just my AN1x that had the weird MIDI issues.
I recently picked up a Stereo Memory Man with Hazarai. Fun digital delay for sure! In many of the delay modes the decay knob diffuses the echoes into a weird reverby wash. Very cool effect.

was not edcore before stancore ???????? my mci is loaded with em !!! every ch in and out on line + jensen 115ke on Mic pre!!!
..
also my GSSL have Stancore 600:600 on output /// and studer 1:1 transformers on input hehe!!

you do realize that the modulation matrix has many deep parameter settings and that could be affecting your controllers.
i've never ever heard stepping on the pitch. mod wheel is only 7bit so you can only have 127 values.
i would recommend saving your patches and doing a factory reset (see the pdf manual).
filter stepping can be mostly avoided with good programming of the mod matrix.
Thanks for your help, I hope it will work:)
In fact, for many patches, the mod wheel sounds good enough, or sometimes even great. The problems occur as soon as I use it to control external MIDI gear. For example, when I play a long note on my Doepfer 404 and then use the mod wheel to change the filter cutoff, it really sounds "broken". It's not just that you can hear the steps themselves (which should be fine), it's more like you can hear the transition between the steps as if there was a short huge parameter change in between. If I'm not successful with what you proposed, I'll record a little mp3 demo of that problem...

I think I just came.. Did you rack them yourself?
Briljant..

That doesn't sound like an AN1x problem. If you have a midi-interface with you computer, then use a midi monitor program like http://www.snoize.com/MIDIMonitor/ (mac osx) or midi ox http://www.midiox.com/ (windows) to see what the mod wheel is sending.
I really doubt your modwheel is sending anything other than a smooth 1-127 stream of midi CC commands. What happens when you send midi to your ms-404 from your mpc slider?
Waiting for 2 slope detectors and one THTSH.
Orderd them from Elby but these are Ian Fritz designs.
Can't wait to put them in my Wiard/Malekko casse.
@ sneakthief: Thanks for the hints, I will check that. I used to use my Alesis Micron as a MIDI controller before I had the AN1x, and everything was fine! No matter if I was using the pitch wheel or mod sliders, you could not hear any stepping.
Oberheim Xpander.
Wohaaa Koova.
Quite a beast to program!

no ..got them like that with original PSU!!!
now recaped psu ...
need to clean em a bit and glue them in my rack for lifetime
ZeHa - what you are experiencing certainly sounds familiar to me. I don't remember having any stepping sending out CC's from the mod wheel, but the abrupt jumps in controller values is exactly what would happen with mine when sending more than one controller at a time. I don't remember any settings in the mod matrix that would reduce the resolution of outgoing MIDI controllers myself, but it's been a while since I've had mine. Maybe you're sending out aftertouch as well?
I finally got my Vermona DRM. It sounds great, very different than anything else I own. Like Sneak said, kick drum is kind of weak though... I love how the toms sound when they interfere with each other's phases. I do have problems with it though, the claves instrument is not working, and I can't get the machine to trigger more than one instrument at the time over MIDI. It syncs quite nicely with the MIDI clock from the sequencer, so I'm guessing it has the newer OS ROM chip. Btw, those chips can be obtained from the Vermona site for 15eur:
