Re: What new booty have you acquired?

so how is  the quality of the efx in the pod? Line6s stompbox range (FM-4, DL-4, MM-4 etc.) is nice I think, despite their less than perfect emulations, but for the sheer volume of effects you get. Would be nice to have those in VST format straight into the DAW, to unload the cpu.

How does it interface with the DAW? via the 1/4 inch connectors or directly via the usb somehow? How many channels etc are availible?

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

Interfaced via USB. As far as quality goes well I have not got a lot to compare it to at the moment. I do like the tape delays and chorus, modulator efx etc. The reverbs are not good i think but that is not why i bought it. Pretty easy to demo line6 delays and judge for yourself and it should be as good as dl-4 if not better because no d/a conversion really i bought this unit for the tape delay only so all this is a huge bonus. The compressor seems quite good also but i really dont know about such things and its quite limited. Throwing those cabinet simulations on an 808 really does some cool things. Im not sure on the amount of channel available but i seem to at least get 2. There seems to be one strange thing that i can select pre-amps like neive simulation and SSL etc but they dont seem to work yet- but i never had those on my xt anyway. All up yes the volume of stuff you get to use makes it very worthwhile and you can chain them all together. Certainly be nice to get those preamps working.

I was thinking about selling my xt  as i couldnt be bothered interfacing it with my mixerless set up but now it is going to be essential core studio tool.

it looks like someone is doing a DIY board run of the SDS-3 voice... when they eventually get it together, I'll be ordering 5 voices.. (if you're doing one or two, may as well do 5...)

nice one, keep me posted about the results.. maybe we can do a audio-test when your finished and compare the DiY-project with the original.. (And dont forget to add the run-generator and lfo, they are essential!)

I rather keep those out and have cv inputs so i can patch my own stuff into them for modulation smile

I assume not everyone has got a massive modular around like you do wink

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

So true.
But with cv everyone is able to choose his own modulator.
I am really happy the sds3 cloning started.
I've been bugging around for that for a while.

what's the run generator do?? from its name I'd guess it's generating some kind of multi-trigger pulse from a single trigger input? like a flam or a roll something? what controls does it have, and what can you do with it? is it related to the LFO?

Seems that each SDS3 diy voice board has its own noise source and LFO.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

I think the run generator is more like a sample n hold.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

a roland d-10 with a stand and some cables for 40 euro. I quite like it. Bit 'cold' sounding, but in a good way. There seems to be a problem with it though, i get scrambled patch names and the memory doesn't work. I tried changing the battery, but to no avail. Anyone has a clue?

It works a little bit like an apreggio, the triggered notes change in pitch and with the 'run time' you can adjust the lenght of the looped appreggio.. Each channel has an 'effect range' pot that controls the amount of the LFO and 'run-generator'.. (I believe the 'bend-level' controls if the loop/apreggio pitches 'up' or 'down', but I'm not sure)..

the SDS400 and SDS800 also have run-generators with even more functions (loop up / down and random, treshold, step-time)

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

Bought a Drumtraks 400 with a broken off "metronome volume"  knob off Ebay for $150. Finally got here. Tons of fun. Had its rhythm bank full. I feel like Jimmy Edgar. Everything else works perfectly and used tweezers for the metronome volume which sounded fine.

How the hell the metal knob got shorn clear off without bending the circuit of fing up the rest of the machine I'll never know.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

Got my Linndrum today and it is amazing. Almost mint condition. It needs eproms restored so I have bought a Topwin Eprom programmer. Now the fun starts! Need to reflash kick, clap and congas, pretty important stuff really. I think might need new eproms for some flashing as my device supports am2732dc but not 2732ajl-25. Anyone else up on chip flashing for linndrum? I'm looking for a cheap source of chips.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

Hey wasubot!

You can find eproms on eBay for about 2-3$us each.  Some arcade machine parts vendors also have them.

PLEASE keep me updated as I should receive my Linndrum soon and it's also missing 9 of the original eproms.
I want to replace them with the original.  I'm sure that like me you found the .bin files of the original sounds on the net.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

Hey Tony reading that those bulgarian ones which i'm seeing as available to ship to AU don't seem to be imported by any programming devices I've found. The x pin ball ones do look good though but I'm not seeing any of those on ebay which will ship to me. Here is the list of ones my device supports:
http://www.top2048.com/gb/DeviceList/device2007.txt

I will keep you posted on my progress. I suppose i will wait to get the programmer and see how it goes with at least the am2732dc i have in there. I find it criminal the person replaced my clap with a snare chip. smile

me vainly posing with linndrum...haha i had to show it was actually here! smile

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

ah man mine has 808 and 909 sounds which is allright but really, I want my Linn to sound like an Linn.

If your experience is successful with the programmer and if I can find a source for compatible eproms I'd like to program my own as well.
