I got a Synare 3 in perfect cosmetic shape in the mail today but the idiot didn't take the batteries out before he shipped and both batteries fell out of their holders and the wires of one battery connector snapped off the motherboard. Guy guaranteed working or money back so I'm trying to decide whether to have a friend at work try to resolder the connections (my friend will bitch at me for being lazy or will want a few bucks) or just spend the $20 and ship it back to the guy and get my money back and be done with the headache. He said I could try to fix it and if it didn't work he'd still take it back. Too bad, nice old guy, sent me a bunch of diagrams for it.

On one hand, I have a lot of percussion synths. On the other hand I've always wanted a Synare since I saw Perspects playing one at DEMF years ago and it's in really nice shape other than the stupid connector.

But I paid the going rate ($200 US) and if I did send it back I could surely buy another one whenever. I just doubt it would look so perfect.

Dude resoldering a single wire is one of the easiest repairs you could ask for.. sounds like an honest mistake and the seller seems reasonable.. don't be so difficult

Oh I wasn't difficult with him at all. I'm just venting. Like I said he's the nicest (but maybe weirdest) guy in the world.

Well, "idiot," was harsh. That wasn't nice.

It's two wires. I'll take it to work tomorrow. Worst case scenario if its something beyond reconnecting them I'll just send it back.

Sake's alive. Took the Synare to work. Got it soldered. Works like a charm. Just pummelled it for an hour. Wish I was handy.
