Re: What new booty have you acquired?

For the records: I did not buy that System 700. I decided that it is quite pointless to have a +30 years old device in my hangar that if for any
reason breaks down I will struggle to find parts for it.. maybe not, but I feel it would be a hassle.
After reading Ruud's comment about the Wiard, I might consider looking at it.

@Mono-poly: do you have some tracks that you made by using the Wiard? If my memory serves me well you should, but I am quite tired today..

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

@alex this is for 90% done with Wiard

hm, i never actually thought about the fact they could be better.. big_smile i was pleasantly surprised by the bass, it was cheap (150 euro, incl shipping from the UK and came in a very nice hard flightcase) but it plays well, has a very good finish and knobs, not at all like cheapo guitars i remember from the past.

wow, 150 euro for a fretless bass???? that is an amazing deal. i was just having a conversation with a guy that works at this shop i take my guitars to, and he was commenting how kids these days can get really good guitars or basses for very cheap compared to the crap stuff he and i grew up with. though on the flipside, i have pedals that i paid $40 for and are now worth $300+. haha

will be looking to hear that bass on some new recordings man!

worship the potentiometer.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

i have to learn how to play it first.. big_smile

yes, i was surprised too, but guitars and basses for 100 euro are common these days. its all stuff from china from fantasy brands, but apparently it's far from bad.. i read up on a lot of reviews of this kind of stuff before buying it. and it is far from the cheap crap you could buy in the 80's for sure. nice about this one is also that its lefthanded, which i am.. i even came across 6-string fretless basses for less than 300$, and the people who bought them were saying they were very good indeed..

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

I couldn't turn this down for $150. If it's not what I want I can always sell it for at least double. Came with bag, manual and backup sound CD.

Will be way easier to use than the Proteus 2000 which I promptly sold and still came out ahead of the deal.

More importantly the Syncussion has left Japan and is in the skies.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

wooow thats cheap, that version is pretty rare. It doesn't matter much because they are all the same (just the knobstyle and colours are different and the rom ofcourse)...but still its got that 50s diner look

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

Yamaha DX-21 for $60!

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

Akai S900   $30

Korg Polysix   $20   !!!

As far as I can tell, the only problem with the Polysix is the key contacts need to be cleaned.  I just opened it up and it appears that someone already did the battery replacement procedure.  Score!

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

wow, that's a steal!

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

amazing!

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

I would have loved to pay the Radias 20$.... tongue

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

does it sound as cold as it looks like... ?

synthesizers only with wooden sidepanels for me ! haha........i just don't like those new things...

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

actually it is not bad at all! I'm turning all possible knobs to see where is the limit, but it sounds good!
Of course, you can't expect the sheer power that for instance the MS20 which is on top of it can deliver, but I am
mainly interested in the sound morphing and motion functions, which are imho where the radias excels.
But it is too early for me to say anything, I have to study how does it work to make proper sounds big_smile

in between all the "new things", I think that the Radias is some good stuff for the money you pay for it...
and then I am always searching for synths that treat sounds in the way that others can't...
Function wise, albeit in a total and more simplifed way, it shares more concepts with the Clavia G2X rather than a
classic modular synth, even if it has more the approach of the latter.

the only thing I dislike so far is the position of the connectors... it is ok if you use it with his keyboard or as a
table top synth, but if you rack it, you loose 1U on top tongue

Not really. Too much delay, i can't tell 90% of the time what changes are made at all.

Are the 16 pots in a line above the buttons also to use as a step-sequencer? If so, it's all good.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

well as far as I can understand for the moment he is playing with the envelope generator a lot...
About the use of the 16 pots as tuning pots still I have to investigate... for sure you can use the small keys as a
polyphonic keyboard. As soon as I discover it I will let you know.
