Re: What new booty have you acquired?

Kawai R100 ... Very nice programming with different tunings of 1 drum in the same pattern..
I think it will go very nice with some acid tracks...

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

finally got one - the tomcat loves it already

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

RZ1 is great. Useless, but great.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

useless like the 707? wink it's pure fun and very affordable - made a little jam -> http://www.zshare.net/audio/55772995cd60c21d/ not so well EQed - just for fun. i like the sampling function - but i guess i speak to slow wink

No, I find it not as useful as the 707. I have the RZ1 and the TR707 and I love both and use them quite often, but the 707 has a far better sequencer and midi and it's not the one trick pony that the RZ1 is. Except for the sampler and the faders the RZ1 offers little more than a RZ1 samplekit. But, I still think it's great machine to have, they are dead cheap and a lot of fun.

Steve Poindexter made 'Work that Mother Fucker' with only the RZ1 and I'm told he had quite a hard time figuring out, hence the lyrics.

yeah - i know, for sure. you can use 707 also for every kind of house music, synthpop, italo and everything else from the eighties - that's a fact. The RZ-1 is "just" a jacking machine and maybe also good for wired music - it's not that common. And as you already wrote - it's cheap. so i give it a try - but i felt in love already wink more house issues in progress...

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

I thought Work that mother fucker's lyrics were sampled from some movie about Drag Queens.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

I guess you can sample a few 707 sounds into the rz-1.  I think everyone that gets a rz1 becomes a poindexter/dan bell clone for the afternoon.  I love the size of it and the tiny screen in the middle. oh and the sample 'filter' knobs on the back

Pearl SC40.

I'm pretty excited about this as I've wanted one for awhile. Never even seen one for sale in the year and a half I've been trawling Ebay. Read about it after buying the Drum-X.

The best part is that it was a trade. I went on VSE looking for one and offering my list of things to trade and the guy traded me straight across for my DR55 w/manual and box that I bought at a pawn shop last year for $30 (actually it was $60 for it and a Boss PC-2 that I later sold for $300 US.) The DR55 is of course a classic but kind of redundant for me with a Soundmaster ST-305. And now I have my beloved SC40 for the wall of drum synth. Played with it for a coupla hours tonight and everything is a-ok. Even has midi.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

lol that thing ended up next to the godspill shop and everybody thought it was for sale. I tried to sell it for 800 euros but nobody wanted it

Got this from mono at the unie

http://www.vintagesynth.com/kawai/k1_r.jpg

(but then the II version) What a cool thing, ideal for deep evolving ambient bvdub soundtrack-like stuff, sounds totally different then how I remembered it (I had a K1M many years ago but I hated that thing for some reason)...warm fuzzy and "evaporating" and so easy to program (well that is maybe because there isn't much to program in the first place ; ) )

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

i managed to track down the K1 randomiser atari program that ruud was talking about if you are interested. had a very quick look at it last night, but am yet to explore its possibilities

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

yeah joost put the thing there when we took all my stuff from the stage, and i never thought about it again.. for 800 euro it would have been a nice profit too..:D
i'm looking at what mods saint eric has for it now.. and i'm missing some slider caps and one wooden endpiece is a little damaged.
i have a k1r and i can understand your hate.. i hate the format alone, this stupid desktop stuff doesn't fit anywhere. i remember they changed quite a few things on the II.. and nice to have it in a rack.

actually i just realized that midi quest (the universal editor) also has a randomizer, and actually one that can do things like bneld or morph 2 patches together.. its not a free program, but there is a good working windows version aehm.. *cough* available in certain places..

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

some weird stuff today:
A 1950's US military audio oscillator:
http://dynakam.com/arf_members_web/images/DSC01557.JPG
Just need to find a 220 to 110 v converter. Don't know if i'll be able to use it but it was free and looks cool lol. Got it from the old man i talked about in the mastering query thread.
An alesis 1622 mixer. Good as a temporary expansion for my other filled 16 channel mixer.

A B&O beocenter 2200 (broken, maybe i'll fix it)
And a very sleek looking beogram 1200 record player.

All in all a good day.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

cool! i love the way that old military test equipment looks.. i've got a few pieces myself.

my last booty in a while i hope: the m-audio black box reloaded

http://www.m-audio.com/images/en/callouts/big/blackBoxCallOut.jpg

very interesting thing.. usb audio interface, guitar/ bass amp modeller, preset drum machine, and full of very unusual time-based and midi syncable effects. i'm using it mainly as an amp for guitar and bass.. bought it very cheap off ebay in the US, i bought the original version and you can download the ''reloaded'' upgrade for free from m-audio. it takes a lot of things from the adrenalinn, and was designed by roger linn himself...

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

that looks like it should be on the panel of a stealth or something rude! i've never seen this thing before, sounds pretty cool though if the effects are good. i got a Vox Tonelab for amp modeling when i can't crank my twin at home. i like the xlr mic input on this though!

@tom dee, that oscillator is rad! it looks like it is built to survive the fall out.

worship the potentiometer.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

i was always wondering about that adrenalinn. I saw this movie where mr. Linn himself demonstrates it and i was pretty impressed. Probably not so many machines that can do the stuff it does, seemed rather unique. Or am i wrong?

That oscillator can probably survive anything. I had a look inside and the quality of the build and the components is just insane. It works with tubes. I was thinking of using it combined with a filter input on one of my synths, but i think i'll have to be carefull with the output voltages and such. Apparently they used them for radio stations, but for what purpose?
The old man started cleaning up his warehouse with stuff, can't wait to see what i'll get next.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

hmmm... a 1950's military signal device? crank it up, maybe some ufos will land in your back yard.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

seems pretty interesting.  I use a boss gt8 guitar effects processor sometimes.  Pretty interesting results.    Bass pods are really nice as well and are quite cheap.
