yeah, my tb303 is parttly warped. from using the wrong adapter, so the previous owner told me.

I don't know guys. I've been feeding my smaller boxes (202, 707, PG300, K4, KMS30, BOSS half-rack effects, Pedals, etc etc) out of all sorts of 9v and 12v adapters for years, and nothing bad ever happened. I've only had the 303 a little while tho. Is the 303 somehow extra sensitive? Or is this possibly one of those urban myths?

largely urban myth. as long as the voltage and amperage match, it shouldn't make any difference whatsoever. only thing is those cheap things may be of less qwuality, so ground hum is more likely to happen.. never had the problems myself though..

I do have ground hums with some 'normal' adapters (that weren't cheap) on tr-505 tr-626 and sh-101. Ordered the Boss adapters and hum was gone. Even tho they had same specifications. You can order them at Thomann. They are the Roland replacement adapters.

For what it's worth, but these guys pronounce on their site an list for which Roland machines that PSA-230P is a safe and good replacement ..

Picked up this beauty yesterday for 200 euro's:

http://www.divineproductions.net/OldGear/korg_dw-8000_01.jpg

Seems like this hybrid machine with his two digital oscillators, 16 (!) digital waveforms & anologue filters isn't that popular .. but after a couple of hours playing with it, I only can confirm what I already heard on youtube vids, this machine has an absolutely stunning sound! Chrystal clear and super solid, especially when you put sounds in one of those two unison modes .. Yeah, I'm really happy with this smile!!

Read there's also a nice expansion kit for it. Anyone around here has experience with one of those?

You guys ever buy gear that was built after 1975???? big_smile

Its not that the artist from the 80s only used gear that was then 40 years old then either.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

@endfest: nice!

adapters: i think that may have more to do with your house then the adapters. my whole studio is ungrounded via the mains, so you never have ground loops.. if you live in a newer place where every outlet is grounded, its much more likely you have problems.

@projectgenocide: most of the gear mentioned here is from after 1975.. cutoff date would be around 1986/87..

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

It has to do with stabalized and unstabilized adapters smile

i don't need the gear, the gear needs me

Pretty sure we both thought we made an awesome deal.

Sounds awesome too!  Can't really compare to the Mc-202 or SH-101, I've had a 202 but it's been a few years.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

Got a Moog Prodigy recently.  It's limited but sounds very nice.  It makes me realise just how good my MFB Synth Lite II is, Mr Fricke did a great job with the Moogy filter on that.  The oscillators are weaker than the Prodigy but far more varied with the ring mod, PWM and so on.  I laid the MFB on the Prodigy and worked out you can fit 8 of them in the same desk area.  The knobs on the MFB stand up well too, on the Prodigy they look solid but they're PCB mounted, not bolted to the front panel as you'd expect on an old solid looking synth.

Re: What new booty have you acquired?

A little something for the Eurorack case for Christmas.

Sold the 202 and some records to get the dough. Will kinda miss the 202 but still have the 101.

Never had a prodigy, but a synth lite II and yeah it comes really close to old analogue mono's concerning the power of the sound. Got a Yamaha cs-5 next to it and the oscilators are slightly stronger, the mfb got much more possibilities to it though.

wow!  That's some serious oscillator!

I just had a listen and read most of the thing, it's really impressive

I like this sound clip a lot : http://www.cyndustries.com/audio/sequence1.mp3

The clips sound like something you'd make as an electro-acoustics post-doctorate degree. Or just noodling around smoking a joint, if you're Mono!

I enjoyed the Cs-5 when I had it but its oscillators weren't very strong if I remember correctly, it does have its purpose though, but I doesn't make me lust over the Lite,  might still be cool if it's anything like the Mfb-502, which I thought was really nice!
