Akai LPD8.
The pads have cute lights, this makes me happy.
For me a noodle is a self playing patch without any human or computer interaction
So you don't need Apples for those CMUs? I thought you needed an Apple computer to drive them.
There 2 cmu's
@ Mono, I meant that I just "noodled" around and came up with a little idea, I wasn't sure so I checked but apparently it's correct :http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/noodling+around
Not that I don't appreciate your hands-off approach
@ Plikes, The Cmu-810 is simply cv/gate, the Cmu-800r is an expander module for the The Apple II and 2 other computers from the same era, forgot which ones.
I used to have 2 complete Apple kits but without software, so I never got to hear them, I sold everything for cheap on eBay, except one of the Apple IIs which was one of the first 5000 produced, it sold for 1000$ it had a hand written serial number, apparently that's a big deal to vintage computer nerds
This video is the coolest example of the CMU system : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZonw0vEilc
Sounds like YMO!
I wish I'd kept one unit to have modded for the drum sounds, they seem similar to the 606, the 800r has 8 cv/gates, could be useful, but the data entry method on the computer looked painful!
Tony, I suspect that a etymological analysis of "noodle" in the sense that Mono used will lead us to a combination of the sense that you used it in and the "spaghetti" of cables it will lead to in a modular synthesis context.
I'm not even kidding.
I just got one of these.. great little thing
hopefully on its way to my studio soon: a studer a80 2 track 1/4 inch mastering recorder. ex-bbc..

rude66
congratulations..welcome to the club!!!
how much you paid for that baby!!!
i have mine + one that have to find new home with only 400 working hours..
thank you kindly, sir..
mine doesn't have the meter bridge (i'll try to find one, but they were sold this way too) and i got it for 600 euro, which i think is a good price for a decent, well working machine. i dont know how many hours it has, but i bought it from a guy who imported it from the UK and who is a tape freak, so i assume if he says everything is tested and okay, that it is.
i'm going to sell my b77 to finance it, but i see the crazy prices these go for on ebay.. especially since mine is a totally original 2 track hispeed version with remote control, it should bring in a good part of what the a80 cost..
a massive mechanical monster: def one of the coolest taperecorders I've seen around
sid sammich kit showed up today! Did just the resistors tonight. going to try and finish it this weekend.

I'm most of the way through its big brother - midibox 6582 build too (built the main board, the front panel standoffs, and most of the front panel - but stalled right now - waiting on the LEDs to arrive.... waaah)
@ Ruud: What a beauty..
@ Unicity: yeah i didn't know Boss made effects that early, i found it on a small local advert page.. some old guitar player guy getting rid of his gear. i'll see when it arrives but i'm fairly decided to get another one to make a pair.
look! Eddie Van Halen used it.. it's actually much larger than it appeared on the advert page (it's the one behind the mic stand)
@ Ruud: amazing! congrats
whell I had cca 6x A80 and know here are many more..non of em had VU meters ..Im looking for them over a decade!!
they are rare
600 is bargin man.. be sure that hours are under 8000 ... if they are over that change heads!!!! its must!!!!
i see A80 goung for over 2K euro in good working condition with low hours
so you hit jackpot with 600 euro on A80
yiiipiiiii
i did restauration of mine
NEW heads

Picked up a 258v 258v 902 911
Nice Rude, a real beauty no doubt
When I worked on analog vcr's we never looked at the recorder's VU, only at the external peak level meter. Maybe most of these broadcast recorders come wihout a meter bridge because they used other metering devices? I reckon you can do the same and considder using a RTW peak level meter instead of trying to find a meterbridge (altho it looks awesome!). Those RTW's are far more accurate to read than VU's, and ideal for finding 'that saturation point'.
@Rude
great buy! totally approve it! btw where are you going to put it? near the washing machine or the fridge?
sorry for the joke but that thing is big and AFAIK your flat is not so big... What Shaunna has to say about it?
Luckily for me Linda doesn't complain, mostly because she doesn't want to know what happens in my playroom..
but for you is different
