I really wanted to buy it, and somehow in some mysterious way got the phone number of the guy who made the reservation, but he couldn't be persuaded not to buy it. ;D

I actually bought this for 80 euro, the guy didn't know how to turn it on. The display is very weak and I think that the battery needs to be changed. Besides that everything is ok (except the obvious tempo knob but I don't mind).
Good price, it's a great sounding machine, I love mine, too bad they're not black!
I didn't notice the replacement knob on yours, good match, I think they're avaiable from Technology Transplant on eBay if you care.
From what I remember the memory is held by the AA batteries, nothing internal or maybe that's what you're saying?
If the display is weak, it might have something to do with the adapter.
You might be right about that adapter. I'm using that universal wallmart one, maybe there is not enough wattage.
I have a problem that every time I turn the machine on after it's been off for minute or longer, almost every pattern is replaced with all instruments selected at every step, the rest of the patterns are just random. If I turn the machine off and then on, everything is still there. The battery compartment for AAs is empty, so I presumed that there is an internal battery that needs changing (or at least I hoped so).
you need two AAs to hold the patterns otherwise you get this mess

How long do the batteries last?
when i got mine last summer mr. chinetti advised one change per year if i remember correctly
I think I own mine a bit more than 5 years now and I changed the batteries on the 707 three times, on the 727 twice. So yeah, once a year would be on the safe side but I reckon once every two years can also be okay. Last time I needed to change the batteries I noticed it long before the typical memory and display issues you have now: the 707 suddenly ran out of midi sync and a fresh pair of batteries solved the problem. So besides that untight midi could be a good indication of empty batteries, it's also smart to pack a fresh set if you depend on the 707 for live show.
The psu should be 12v, at least 200mA, negative on the center.

Thank you Brian. The 707 is fed with the fresh new set of batteries, and everything seems to be fine at the moment.
When I saw the double AA battery compartment, I presumed that those are used for on-the-road jamming without the need for external psu, and that there is an internal battery for RAM.
Nah, cheap solution I guess. No on the road jamming with this one.
It's a great machine nevertheless, I've used mine so much I can't even start counting. It's starting to show tho, it's getting busted more and more. I should get a spare one before they start selling them for 500 euro
