It is indeed huge. I'm quite lucky to be living in the area. The only downsides to it are that it killed nearly all the local small shops and they don't have listening stations (so you either have to know what you're going to buy or be pretty experienced at spotting what's good or not). For any addicts visiting LA (or the SF/Berkeley area where the original two locations are), it's a must-stop on the itinerary.

i've spent a lot of time at the one on haight street...amazing store...top 10 record stores for me, for sure...checking the used electronic bins turns so many great practically new releases for just a couple bux...the berkeley one isn't as good...

my only purchase in the last week or so has been clara mondshine - memorymetroplis
