I like this concept "Alien abduction lamp":
http://dvice.com/pics/abductionlamp.jpg
Very cool, too bad it isn't brought to market (yet)

Text from http://dvice.com/archives/2007/06/alien … es_tho.php
"Remind yourself of those lost couple of days you spent aboard an alien spacecraft with this Alien Abduction Lamp, a design concept by Lasse Klein. If it's ever actually brought to market, it'll be made of metal and glass, and the light source inside the ship will not only provide a backlight for those little Martians peering out each of its windows, it will illuminate the tractor beam emanating from the ship's underside.

You turn on the lamp by pressing its antenna; rotate that antenna and the tractor beam springs to life, pulsating ominously. Designer Klein also plans to offer options, including bovine or human abductees hanging inside the tractor beam."

Somehow i have a real soft spot for those hard and strong lines in these late eighties early nineties cars.
They're really cheap second hand (bad reputation, uncorrect), look great and have very nervous engines (even the small T-sparks are great fun to drive) which i love. After driving about a 100 km with it the engineblock is at a good temperature and you can do anything with them. The revmeter on my 1.4 tspark goes into the red at 7000 rpm, go figure.
Don't really like the new ones though, a bit too 'forced' agressive look...

Re: Objects Of Desire or according to Teep -> "Shit, that is damn sexy..."

These are all great, especially in the nicer trims.

The new mito though, is an ugly little pig of a car, maybe even worse than bmw 1 series.

Re: Objects Of Desire or according to Teep -> "Shit, that is damn sexy..."

Agreed, the Mito is ugly! A real 'hairdressers' car (or coiffeursbak as we say here in Belgium). The bmw 1 series is ugly, but that new X6 really takes the cake as far as pompous, ugly and 'too much money, too little taste' goes...what a hideous thing.

That's what I like about cars too. What do you think of the Saab 9000? Would it qualify as well? I love it, whenever I see one in town, which doesn't happen that often, I stop and stare.

Re: Objects Of Desire or according to Teep -> "Shit, that is damn sexy..."

Great car! I almost bought one a few years back, but they are very thirsty (best to put them on LPG). On the other hand: very reliable, cheap and you don't see them that often.
Personally i prefer the 900 turbo, ofcourse the 3 door version. They really messed up the lines with the 5 door version...
I think it's a real 'architects' car.:)

the 1 series is not ugly, it's distinctive smile it is quirky and different to the usual look cars have these days, which i like. ok the 5-door is a bit over the top, but especially the 3-door is handsome.

Mito is disgusting, such a horrible expression, I've made this to clarify my opinion for you:

http://unworkable.org/~dan/_img/mito_repulsive.jpg

I can't tell the two subjects in this picture apart. Ugh. what a horrible car.

Re: Objects Of Desire or according to Teep -> "Shit, that is damn sexy..."

@ramos: yeah those R5's are mighty cool! I would even be willing to settle for a 'normal' Alpine version wink. Way cheaper and not that hard to come by.

http://www.delest.nl/media/img/DCP_4425.JPG

On the alpine tip: A110

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/9a/Renault_Alpine_A110_Berlinette_1600_SX.jpg

about the mito: the car that inspired it is something else though

8C competizione

http://static.blogo.it/autoblog/alfa_8c_competizione_big_10.jpg

@heifitz: you bought one didn't you? Rear wheel drive, alot of hp for the size of the engine and very economic fuel consumption are all cool features. Not alot of cars (if any) have these. You might even forget the 'distinctive' looks for a moment wink

Re: Objects Of Desire or according to Teep -> "Shit, that is damn sexy..."

@Fizz
those alpha's are nasty
i need one!
don't really have where to drive it to, but anyway i wouldn't mind to ride it smile

I thought so too, until I saw one live! It's not so bad in the metal.
