ok I'm fascinated. is there a whole genre of stuff this minimal? I mean it's just rapping over very simple instrumentation, it might sound simple for me to say that. it's like drum n bass. it's not my culture. so I'm confused.
is this a new thing basically?

it's viktor bodrovski, one of our Mind Warp crew. He won a djcontest and one of the prices was a photoshoot. he was not allowed(!) to smile, and arne loves to laugh so it's strange to see these 'serious' pictures.
useless trivia: he had a huge hangover on these pics

why would that be a bad thing? At least it would be spontaneous and not artificial. I mean, it doesn't contribute anything to your music. There are always exceptions of course, like the pics from Murder Capital, these were really cool (but I can't find them on the internet anymore)but these were done for fun and to illustrate the identity of the label. Most of these pics are just too cliché, it's ALWAYS the same shit: abandonned warehouses, serious/dedicated-blik-op-oneindig face, a hoody or a trendy jacket and all that crap, it doesn't distinguish you of ANY other DJ (or File Jockey). I'm sick of all these hipster douchebags who take themselves so serious. The really good DJ's don't need all that bullshit, f.e. Intergalactic Gary, he's really low profile and ONLY promotes himself through his music and he gets recognition for what he does without all that cliché troep. Is it a coincidence that nearly every artist who's work I admire doesn't have pics like that? Namlook, Muslimgauze, Zoviet France, Ian Martin, etc etc.
