Civilian service was of course and option but it's too long and after being a bit pushed for going to army, just decided to give it a shot. We'll see.

the army's not that bad. you get to shoot with guns and are fed 5 times a day 
today life sucks more than usual, I was at this party, and should have put some records on, and I felt so depressed I really couldn't. Then I started, people didn't like the music, I made mistakes, it was horrible. I left the thing prematurely, and went home to wine in the forum. well, life really sucks... shit

True, although it could easily get worse, the "global economic meltdown" (or whatever the catchphrase is this week) has not really hit Oz that bad yet.

is that figure for Aus alone? isn't that nearly all of us? 
...when you're working on a live set and your tb303 loses its patterns 3 days before the gig...
...and you didn't 'save' anything (as far as saving goes on a 303 -> writing the patterns on a piece of paper).
but on the upside the new patterns are probably better than the old ones
when you are sitting at one of the most boring fairs. my ass hurts from the cheap chair and i've had 4 talks which led nowhere
