Story of African Football which is pretty light and helping me get ack into reading. Some interesting interweaving of stories.
Got bought this for Valentines.
Some nice short stories through the great pictures.
I just finished reading these 10 books

I really recommend the series, they are among the best police procedural/crime fiction books I have read and manage to subvert the genre and use it to critique the social and political issues of Sweden in the 60s/70s. They are written with a Marxist leaning. The characterisation and plots are second to none and the books retain a sense of grit and realism.

I'm really enjoying these. up to the fourth short story, they've all been brilliant so far. A lot darker than I was expecting. Going to pick up one of the novels this month too
Living in Viking Britain Book Cover Living in Viking Britain By Whittock, Martyn
As I am descended from Viking I thought I better learn about it.
also talks a little about the Cynics. Man did those guys really masturbate in public? thats awesome!
@scott_neon
they sound incredible. thanks for the tip.
@meschi
i'm jealous you've just (re-)discovered holmes. i've read them all too much now. read a few 'new' (post-doyle) holmes stories but it's just not the same.
am currently reading strange attractor volume 4:
From Haiti and Hong Kong to the fourth dimension and beyond: discover the secrets of madness in animals; voodoo soul and dub music; ancient peacock deities; Chinese poisoning cults; the history of spider silk weaving; heathen mugwort magic; sentient lightning; Jesuit conspiracy theories; junkie explorers; Dali’s Atlantis; the resurgence of Pan (in London’s Crouch End); anarchist pirates on Madagascar; an ancient Greek Rip Van Winkle; French anatomical waxworks; Arthur Machen’s forgotten tales and the full text of Alan Moore’s unfinished John Dee opera.
best book I've read about De Bende Van Nijvel.
damn still looking for that one but second hand pretty expensive in NL..
best book I've read about De Bende Van Nijvel.
I'll check if they have some left here in De Slegte if you want.
yes please! Like I've said: Im very much interested/intrigued in the BvN and heard this is the book to read.. thanks Ray!
ps: haven't checked everything yet but big chance I have doubles of Duister
I'll check if they have some left here in De Slegte if you want.
I will check it out, I'm going there tomorrow anyway but I can't promise anything, I know that it was sold out pretty quick. But there will be another "druk" one day. There is indeed a lot to read about the subject but this is actually the first book that is really good and very detailled imho(over 500 pages). I got mine from the library last week, no idea if it's still for sale here.
Have you tried this site yet: www.bendevannijvel.com ? That's a very, very good website. It's a bit difficult to navigate in it but there is a shit load of information on the site. It took me months to read everything (and I'm still discovering new stuff there).
The subject is indeed very fascinating and very grim to say the least. But I'm 200% sure that we will never know who was behind these crimes (although it was probably politicaly themed).
yeah off course I know about the site, I've spend (and still do) a lot of time reading there.. But it would be cool to have something more with structure like the Guy Bouten book. Are there any other books you can recommend?

well, not really, like I said it's the best book out there. There were very good articles in Humo too. I used to keep them but I've lost all of them due to "wateroverlast"
I've checked in De Slegte and no succes, they told me that the book was sold out within a week. Looks like there are no new copies floating around at the moment. Would like to have it too.
Well, this one is not bad either: De bende van Nijvel: Tien jaar blunders van het gerecht
wow the Nijvel gang are very interesting
never heard of them before... damn shame they make the kennedy assassination look like crap
