many cool worlds in the title, but very speculative stuff (maybe too speculative to be called "physics"). be warned wink

Oh I'm aware...That's why I'm reading it mainly.

I read Brian Greene's Fabric of the Cosmos recently and followed that up with Lee Smolin's, The Trouble With Physics, and became totally disenfranchised with physics as a whole. That's why I needed some fantastical speculative writing to get me back into it.

Re: What are you robots reading right now?

smile then i understand completely. started reading the feynmann lectures in physics lately, but it's quite demanding if you're just reading it out of interest.

Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must be silent.

Re: What are you robots reading right now?

just finished Inherent Vice, new book by Thomas Pynchon.
I abandoned Gravity's Rainbow half way through, but this one is very readable, an excellent read in fact.
All about the end of the 60's in LA and other stuff too, of course.
Expected a bit more of the ending though.

It's not too bad. There's also Roger Penrose's Road to Reality which is similar, except that it tries to give a short grounding on the math aswell which is crucial for understanding the physics in depth.

Monkey see, monkey do.

swapping books with a friend at work. He gave me day of the triffids (finished) and Rant - Chuck Palahniuk (reading now).

Must also read all the old ballard books. Drowning world was promising, but it was a one night stand (as in I was at a friends house, and he was reading at the time, so I couldn't borrow it, just read 20 pages or so)

Nice read. Writings by Vince Aletti in which he reviews current ('73-'78) disco records. Interesting.
