^ BINGO (Disk 2 in particular is one trippy lesson in musical history. This album taught me that I shouldn't settle for anything ordinary, and that good dance music is usually not found in the "new" cabinet of the local recordstore.)

Derrick May - Mix-up 5 (for that very energetic fast blend of  styles. Still a regular in the playlist)
Kruder and Dorfmeister - DJ kicks (over and over again, 96's summer soundtrack that got me so excited about plugging music to other people. NOT a regular in the playlist)
I-f - Mixed Up in The Hague ( Alone in the dim light of my laptop and high on Fijian bushweed overlooking moonlit palmtrees this mix was what kept me from loneliness. )
Rahaan - Just dance (This was the mix that opened up the disco vault. Those moments of extreme exhileration are rare and precious. Just stomping, grooving music. Wave after wave.)

Re: Post here your Favourite Mix or the Mix that changes your Life

Although more or less into Italo since the mid/late 80's, I was never much into the MaxMix or Italo Boot mixes, they were too "messy" for my taste.

Good stuff:
Some of the tracks are a bit cheezy but I liked the mixing technique on this release (CD2):
http://www.discogs.com/Various-Italo-Di … se/1239489
Sure there are some effects and shit but It's got that important "flow" that many other mixes lack.

Speaking of flow:
Our fellow robot Dircsen has done some amazing mixes, with the Maximum Disco 1 & 2 as my personal favourites.

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
All of my base,
Are belong to you.

Re: Post here your Favourite Mix or the Mix that changes your Life

i-f - mixed up in the hague. changed my whole outlook
moguh - space at eight xxxx. added very broadly to my outlook

Re: Post here your Favourite Mix or the Mix that changes your Life

Not really online mixes or mix cd's, rather gigs on party's but concerning ambient and chill out it was Katrien Klausing who determined my musical taste (in the mid 90s). For italo, well, I heard italo every day but I was too young, it was I-f who let me discover all these gems again through his many mixes, sounds clich

chicago house tape - Patrick Russell (2000)  Best house mix ever. played to death in my car, and got me into carseat dancing and weird looks from people while stopped at a red light. Get it here: http://www.mentalux.com/dj.php Includes tape hiss, pops and crackles wink

techno tape "Insanely Excited" late 90s split tape mix by Green Velvet and Traxx.  Although it has some standout tracks and a wicked Dr Who D

Re: Post here your Favourite Mix or the Mix that changes your Life

Also first hearing a whole load of I-F mixes back in the mid-late 90's, and a set of 50 or so Hotmixes someone gave to me around 15 years ago - all of which blew me away

Re: Post here your Favourite Mix or the Mix that changes your Life

for the most influential one, thats gotta be some ed rush & optical mix from around 99 - probably wouldn't like it today because there was an mc rapping over it, but back then hearing for the first time this fast paced breaks and dark basslines blew me totally away. It sounded totally out of this world! Had it on minidisc borrowed from some guy and never gave it back, no idea where it is now.

I think the best mixes I listened to would be

1. derrick may - detroit technology radio show live in norway from 2009 - illest live set EVER, and one of the strongest inspirations to organize my own detroit techno party
check it here http://www.detroitinstitute.org/techno/ … echnology/

2. Kevin saunderson - x-mix ... was one of the first techno mixes I listened to

3. I-F - mixed up in the hague vol.2 - what brought me here smile - the mix that introduced me to the electronic side of funk!!

@starborough: jeff mills at the liquid room I also always listened to cycling and I thought I'm gonna lift of every minute wink almost had an accident quite a few times cause I HAD to speed up when hearing 'flowerchild'.

Re: Post here your Favourite Mix or the Mix that changes your Life

My two favorites are:

Intergalactic Gary - Mixed up @ Misja's
Todd Jackin E - '83 On Ecstasy

I love them mostly for the weirder songs, like "The Addict" or "Spank", but also for the "plain" ones which are also very cool (like "Operator" or "White Horse"). I don't know how often I actually listened to those mixes, but you can't imagine how I wish I could listen to them for the first time again!

Re: Post here your Favourite Mix or the Mix that changes your Life

my fav mix is FLEMMING DALUM - The Last Days Of Italo Disco

Die Invasion der Kybernauten hat Europa erreicht.

Re: Post here your Favourite Mix or the Mix that changes your Life

One mix that left me so impressed with the seamless blends and track selection is a mix by Chicago's Mike Steele called "A New Beginning". It was recorded on Maxell blank tapes and sold at Gramaphone. I think he used to work there too. Must have bought it sometime between 1995 and 1998. It's smooth, deep, groovin' quality House music. I still listen and enjoy it as much today as I did back then, those tracks sound timeless.

Do it your way, because everyone else is just weird.

Re: Post here your Favourite Mix or the Mix that changes your Life

Dave Clarke @ I Love Techno 1999 http://www.iol.ie/~mountain/job/davecla … hno_99.mp3 ... 45 mins of techno and house magic

Darshan Jesrani in Dublin 2003(?) ... I was at this one and it was my first intro to Italo by way of Gino Soccio (Canadian I know) ... blew my poor little head off. I remember the Face to Face LP cover impressed me too. There's a recording of it somewhere which I'll try to dig out

Simon Conway's "Mixed up in the Head" ... soon after the Darshan gig I got a copy of Simon's Italo CD and that was that... http://www.iol.ie/~mountain/job/Mixed_u … Conway.rar

Zoopsie - Icy Flakes of Emotions ... after discovering the CBS this was one of the more esoteric mixes that I fell in love with. Can't find a link to it now unfortunately

Beppe Loda Electronica Meccanica #? - http://www.iol.ie/~mountain/job/beppe_l … 8_1985.mp3 ... I love Beppe's mixes and especially his old ones. This is full of strange grooves and vocal hooks and it's mixed really nicely

Mickey Mixin Oliver - WBMX 1986 - http://www.iol.ie/~mountain/job/mickey_ … mv1986.mp3 ... lots of really tight WBMX mixes to choose from but this one stands out for me. Party music!

edit: link fixed

I have all of them as MP3s except volume 2 which I need to record from tape - once done I'll share the lot as one package if you message me to remind me.

Bloodsugar 1 is his essential mix from 1995 and is out there on the net somewhere

Re: Post here your Favourite Mix or the Mix that changes your Life

Dj Kicks - Claude Young  still one of my favourites. Proper party music from when I started getting into Techno.
