Re: New COCKpits & GearPics

It's an Omni II, I highly recommend it if you like string synth and/or New order and Joy division.

My studio at university overlooks the Mounted Police barracks - and a conveyor belt happily deposits a massive pile of horse shit in front of my window every day

Music is a beautiful opiate, if you don't take it too seriously.

Re: New COCKpits & GearPics

Re: New COCKpits & GearPics

Hehe yea thank god although with budget cuts you never know..It's quite entertaining because the big metal contraption in the background is a horse exercise wheel so I can watch them as they walk past every few minutes

Re: New COCKpits & GearPics

-> mr pauli

the panel sticker is not attatched to the display. it's just a window in the sticker that acts like a protective film. so it's a bit fragile now i guess. maybe i'll put some plexiglas or something over it...

-> ronin
hehe... i haven't missed the text at all actually. and eventough it says "pro-one II" on the circuitboard i don't think i can fool myself into believing it is a SCI product. the "2 much redbull" etc presets are a constant reminder of the times we are living in tongue

I really don't understand why someone would prefer a potentiometer instead of an encoder. You can tell the encoder to behave like a potentiometer. OK, maybe the knobs are ugly, but that's another thing.

Maybe what people dislike is that they have to tweak the knob more than they would on a potentiometer. But i guess you get used to the feel of the encoder very fast.

Re: New COCKpits & GearPics

The knob shafts feel very cheap on the Prophet 08 also as I recall, maybe it'll fix that.

Re: New COCKpits & GearPics

Yeah I'm fine with either pots or encoders, but the encoders on the Prophet '08 I played with also felt really flimsy and cheap.  Hopefully this addresses that issue.

This photo seems to suggest that they will be Prophet 5 style knobs:

Because Dave Smith's encoder's are fucked  up.
They are just crapy cheap shit and already fail to work before your synth is out off the box.

Re: New COCKpits & GearPics

well doint get me started on DSI pots hehe, i have had a lousy experience with them, but this P08PE edition solution comes years too late imo, his credability has flushed away for me...( i own a PEK ) These has to be the pots they originaly planned but dropped it, because the corroding, oxidizing and faulty other ones were cheaper...

in fact the other orininal P08 synth is around 100 euro cheaper, and that been around a few years now...Too bad, but I will never buy DSI again. Even if the synthengine and so is very okay..Strange that one put his business name up for this kindof emotions just for a lousy 100 euros...

Ow i forgot to mention I have mailt Dave Smith quite a few times in the past...all was okay (good response and quick and so), untill i axed the man how to fix that encodertroubles i got, they went dead silent, and after 3 more mails without reply from him, i told him to FOAD (well not in this harsch tone ofc), then i got a reply with a lot of shit excuses...too late for me....hehe

Too bad again, the (poly)evolver series and prophet08 and MoPho series sound very ok to me, lots of realtime controlls on the first two also, its a damn shame.
