do you find Herzoh films reliable? it's hard to believe that some of his characters really exist? for example the languages researcher? or some scenes are way to much to believe.
btw he's my favorite docos director
@Mule Driver I know what you mean, i think he uses local people both as themselves but sometimes 'in parts', not overly scripted. sometimes I doubt the characters authenticity but even still in these occasions, they are untrained actors in unscripted dialogue, however, still I prefer to think he has incredible insight into bizzare human behaviour.
loved Grizzly Man

possibly cos he's a pretty bizarre human himself!! really liked the one about him and Kinski and their whole love/hate thing. 'Aguirre' is one of my favourite films, 'Cobra Verde' a banger too.
i think herzog is a bit like the characters he portrays: megalomaniacal with nearly impossible dreams.
haha agreed!
I'd actually go so far as to say the best thing about any of his films isn't him or Kinski but Popol Vuh

in my opinion, one of the best deaths in a zombie movie. Its up there with the helicopter, head chop in dawn of the dead.
as good a moment as all the hands coming through the wall in Day Of The Dead...
I like the woman who vomits up all her guts in City Of The Living Dead.
weird 30" 1964 underground film. think leather-clad bikers, the occult, Jesus and Nazis.
on google video: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid … 284449320#
and this is another 30' experimental occult film with music by Bobby Beausoleil. this soundtrack is often played on IFM 3

haha for sure. acid scene in The Beyond is another piece of Fulci genius:

another thing about herzog is his (?) voice over, sounds like smackos
what's / who are Popol Vuh?
what's / who are Popol Vuh?
amazing band from Germany in the '70s who Herzog commissioned to do music for some of his films, notably Aguirre:

and made lots of other music in a similar vein:

I agree, you got to love these eccentric power crazy people!
Went to see The Road lastnight - it's totally gash don't go! it would have been better a horror, a love story or as a preachy eco film - it was none of these - just boring.
@casionova
thanks for the popol vuh tip.
first track you linked, coupled with opening sequence to aguirre, massive
