Ip man. Good kung fu movie, no flying on ropes.. just a pretty honest kung fu like you do not see them much anymore.
Recommended!
gran torino:
Very american but moving in a way. Always nice too see the old Clint doing it again.
air doll:
lovely but also sad. Fairyitale like.
gran torino is a brilliant film.
Pi movie..never seen it
I thought Gran Torino was contrived.
I thought Gran Torino was contrived.
What you mean with that???
Oh, and forget to mention these:
Dramatic:
Interesting. For example: didn't know John Lennon had "two mothers"...
dude vincere blows - I wanted to see a movie about the great Il Duce not his dumb wife

There's still quite some Il Duce left for you to see in this movie I'd say. How he treated his wife says quite a lot about him... But I agree that the "drama" of this movie around his wife is a tad too much especially if you're not into that. But hey you expect that if you're going to see a Italian movie... It was also quite lengthy.
Was it good? I've been waiting for this one... at least it looks pretty cool.

I just thought it was sickeningly touching... That teenage girl character was laughably one dimensional... everything was predictable... the ending didn't really make sense from a legal perspective. Just like I said, contrived... uninspired. I like Eastwood, of course, but I don't know if I'm dying to see his next work as a director. I don't mind if everyone here disagrees with me... the critics sure did, and it's not the first time... I didn't even like Crash.
Joe vs the volcano classic american cinema

I think I understand what you mean... But it isn't every movie contrived? I mean planned and thought over. Uninspired? I don't know... If the girl is one dimensional then that's probably to emphasize the "good". That come over so very "american" to me (besides some other things). Talking about Crash. Gran Torino has about the same overwelming emotioness sometimes that graps you by the throat. I guess some people (like you?) don't like that or feel like they're played with or something. But that's what movie is about right?

Same for me, as well with crash... too much Hollywood. The only thing missing was an added cry/laugh track to help the audience feel the right emotions. And the ending with the retarded boy was just laughable.
Hadn't seen it before.. entertaining.

I'm not against overwhelming emotions... but like you said, I do often feel like I'm being played... like I'm watching something that's been engineered for the audience rather than something coming from the heart of the artist. I understand that you can say that this is how movie-making works, but to me it feels forced and cheesy (the bad kind of cheesy) too often. Maybe it's cause I'm American and I have to deal with this stuff so often that I have my guard up at all times.
Been watching UK election results all night. Depressing, looks like the tories may even get enough to form a minority government. shame on you england, i just don't get it. although in a positive light, first green seat in Brighton.
Lost only few episodes to go, soon i'll be free from that island
meanwhile i started watchin Flash Forward, first episode is good

Point taken. I guess my guard isn't as up as yours and I'm sometimes fooled by these filmtechniques although I recognize it when it happens.
