An idiot goes abroad season 1 & 2
Red Dawn 2012
Weakest of the Quentin Dupiex movies I've seen, but still quite charming and bizarre
that one is so bad

''A reminder of the 80's China.
this is something only a Chinese could understand and shed tears for.
The absurdity and humor is trying to make it simple, direct and easy , but we know its wound inside. we know from our heart that those skilled working people, our parents, that diligent whole generation, was casualty of a disaster called PARTY.
Yet they fought for their children, with bare hand. i still remember how my father fix every one of my broken toys. how my grandfather made me rabbit lantern every year with paper, bamboo and some glue. and it's pretty also. at that time, to me, they are all god-like-fixer who can do whatever magic they do to make my wishes come true.
In that age, there's only one rule. all of them can afford nothing fancy because of the economy, but they can build things single-handed. they will fight to hell for what their children longs for.
just like the movie. exactly, precisely just like that.''......
It makes me think of Kusturica's movies? or maybe its just the trailer?
Maybe a bit, has Russian music
Saw Irréversible last night. Damn, that was tough to watch, but brilliant movie!
Great classic:
Awesome and very thorough movie about the absurdness of the Japanese justice system...
AGAIN! If I watch one episode I always get hooked back in...
bingeing on Youtube stand up clips too. Some discoveries:

and
@Fantomas: I absolutely LOVE Enter The Void!! Irrèversible was good, but not as good as ETV in my opinion. I also watched Seul Contre Tous last year, but didn't really like it that much. Still, 2/3 of his major movies is a good ratio

I'm totally obsessed with Gaspar Noe I love everything he's done, I love his personality, his talent, everything about him and his work... he fascinates me. He is by far the most talented and daring director of his generation, and so totally missunderstood by the critics (but couldnt care less lol)
Seul contre tous is very dark and brilliant BUT unfortunatelly very difficult for non french native. The naration is extremelly important in this movie and all the english translations I came accross were quite bad
Also, its important to watch CARNE first, both movies go together if you want to fully get the thinking process and crazy mind of the main character (also seen in the first scene of Irreversible btw)
What can I say about Irreversible, this will be for ever my favorite movie all time, never a movie moved me, deranged me, shaked me that much. It's fantastic!!
Enter the void is an amazing trip, so powerfull. I have watched it in the oldest cinema of amsterdam, the only place in Holland where the movie has been played (why he had so much trouble distributing such masterpiece is a mysterie to me). A lot of people left the cinema, they didnt get it at all. For those of us who stayed, we sat there a looooooong time when the movie ended, strangely looking at each other, like we were just coming down of an incredible mystical experience. Never experienced such feelings in a cinema, amazing, hypnotic, unforgettable
And if you want to discover more his work, he also has done quite a few short movies, some are really good also. ""We Fuck Alone" for example from "Destricted" etc....
He is a genius
The only regret I have is that we probably will have to wait 10 years for another movie
