anyone got any tips for cats moving flats? he currently gets access to outside but never strays far or for long. whats a good plan for the new place? i dont think he can become a house cat.
Our cat Lily (that is lost for 1,5 month now..) was raised in my girls place in the city of Ghent were it was dangerous outside so she couldnt go out. Then she stayed at my place for a while where she could go out as she liked. having returned to ghent the cat got really depressed and didnt do anything but stare outside. In the end whe just let the cat stay at my place because it was heartbreaking to see here like that. lily was a real outside hunter cat so maybe yours hasnt got the same problem
I think thats a Norwegian forest cat...I had one...had to give him to my mom cause the wifey is allergic.

thanks for the story suy. my cat is no hunter thats for sure but he likes fresh air at his nose! ive been asking about & it seems that generally cats are more unhappy if split from their owners rather than the house. also that first two weeks are pretty hairy whilst he settles. i guess i have to take it as it comes.
@dez gorgeous!
i agree with the notion that cats grow more attached to their owners than specific places. when my g/f went on a 2 week trip, our female cat spent the 1st week mostly sleeping and staring at a wall.
Nah, don't excite yourself with the idea your cat attaches to you as a person. They don't care about you, they care about what you mean to them. Cats are attached to routine. You (or better said, your assets: your smell, your schedule, your warm lap, the food you hand out), give them routine, so if you go for a longer period, they'll miss that and their behavior will change. But if you're absence becomes routine too, a more social cat will likely adapt to that. For some it might take only a few weeks, for other maybe months, but most often they will adapt, especially if the new situation holds more entertainment for them.
Entertainment is also key, cause cats get bored easily. If you plan to move a cat from a house with a garden to an apartment your decision shouldn't depend on how far a cat goes outside, but how long. Being outside is entertainment for them, if you take that away they'll get really bored and piss and shit all over the place, until you find another way to compensate for the lack of entertainment.
my cat loves me... she just has a funny way of showing it

a cat amongst the pigeons brian chinetti! thats a really fair point about routine & social cats adapting. there is a massive back yard area with trees & bushes, but he cant just pop in & out through the window like before. so i probably need to get him into the habit of being outside for a specific period of time. he's a lovely cat & sure he will adapt, i just wanna be as responsible a human -who has domesticated an animal - as i can be
i think i'm slowly starting to appreciate the hairy buggers, as long as they keep their nails of the crown jewels and don't touch my records.
i often wonder what hydrodynamic problems my cat might be solving
@ zubeldia v.nice but it is only when you finally accept the fact that the buggers just dont obey you that you find true love for the feline
lol nice one Mitel
I must admit that personally I hate dogs, cats and all of these crappy stuff.
akadavar, why are you posting to a cat thread with a picture showing cruelty to cats? get a life dumbass.
Agree 100% you cunt. this is entirely voyeuristic. this is animal abuse & by publishing here you are endorsing it.

He he Unfortunately he's not mine. I'm his aunt as his owners call me haha. Always look after him when they go away. He's being very cheeky this evening tho, I've already fed him and he's hanging around the kitchen meowing. He just tried to eat a piece of dried pasta I dropped on the floor lol!
at my mate's for xmas dinner last night! he was sitting there cause the chair is next to the radiator
heavy casting cost... but a killer ca(rd/t).
