not that far away from human's potential behavior.
there're always personalities that don't get along and we don't know what lumi experienced in the past in psychologically ways, but maybe la grand dame will calm down...:)
We still have that problem with our cats, both are female... They say it can be done but i don't believe in it anymore, eventho ours are much more friendly to each other than they ever where. It's still not all peace an quiet, they 'fight' at least once a day (our new cat is here for five or six months now) but it's getting less and since a week they even started to sleep together and share the best spot 9on the central heating in front of the window 
) They say it can take a year for them to get used to each other, and females are less likely to ever fully except newcomers (female cats are naturally solitary creatures). Think of it like this; a completely strange person comes in to your house, starts making friends with your girlfriend, sleeps where you sleep, eats what you eat and and pisses where you piss, without the intention to ever leave again... Scary thought, and it is what your old cat is experiencing 
The only (slight) chance of success is by introducing really slowly, and I mean really slowly; keep the new cat in a separate room for at least a week, gradually building up the time they spend together, and make the few minutes they are together fun minutes filled with food, play and divided attention. Really, I was shocked when I found out how difficult it is to put a new cat with an older cat. There's lot's of articles to be found on the net, just search for 'introducing new cat' and you'll find tons of info.
