yeah... heard a story that he programmed the bassline for "big fun" in kevin saunderson's studio on his lunch break, went back to work and left it on there, forgot about it, and kevin saunderson found it and made the hit that broke detroit techno internationally

his early stuff was real funky, like "There's no way out (of the groove)" from 1989 is such a catchy nice song. still sounds fresh in a set

Kenny Larkin  - Azimuth ---> that one is really superb!
Luke Slater's 7th Plain is also essential stuff in that area (not really to dance to though), the 4 Cornered Room is pure bliss:

Re: Hart voor Detroit

For me, Detroit Techno was THE type of music that really hit me when I began to understand something about electronic music 10-11 years ago. There was of course Prodigy which I was mad about, but slowly everything that came from Detroit or sounded like it, no matter where it was from, just summed up my teenage feelings. 20 years old now and it still does!

Lots of great stuff posted here already - was digging Walt J's Ascender the other day and 7th Plain's My Yellow Wise Rug is also one of the most beautiful listening albums made in a british Detroit spirit!

A shitload of good labels to list - 10th Planet, 4th Wave, early Eevo Lute stuff, Evolution / Universal Language Productions, Native, New Electronica, Reflective... all landmarks in soulful, deep, ambient-dipped Detroit Techno - definitely something to check out if you're still not into those. Also among the new labels are a.r.t.less, Abstract Forms, Weinberg's diametric, Digital Soul, Emoticon.. there sure are good new records to pick up if you just know where to look.

Have to agree. All of his work is great. It's been a while since he produced st. (if I remember correctly he has other artistic activities to).

Re: Hart voor Detroit

Unfortunately there is no Youtube Video but I want to mention the record of

Gigi Galaxy - Lemuria EP on Teknotika:

http://www.discogs.com/Gigi-Galaxy-Lemu … ease/48738

All the tracks have a certain magic about them espacially "The Dream"!
To me it is maybe one of the most underestimated records out there.

Definately worth a listen!

Cheers,
