ha.. bim marx is from ny (even though jorge is from jersey)
i dont get the whole kyle hall thing.. i listened to alot of the tracks at the record store and i just dont get it.. i think dude get s a free pass cause he is young.. wait til he learns what he is doing and starts making whack dubstep hiphop.. ha.. hopefully not though.. maybe i will "get it" one day, but not yet..
omar s is a freak.. first i thought it was super dope.. then i was like.. wait maybe he doesn tknow what he is doing.. and then that pyschotic photosynthesis shit blew me away (the beatless one) and then you could be here with me.. man.. that is classic already. i think i listened to that record like 10 times in a row one day.
what the hell comes out of chicago now anyway? besides jamal moss and traxx?
funny to hear the european view of these cities.. i wouldnt want to live in either.. but if i had to choose, i like detroit way better. but man.. it would be hard to get a job making money.. but at least rent would be cheap. chicago has ugly women.

Unfortunately there is no Youtube Video but I want to mention the record of
Gigi Galaxy - Lemuria EP on Teknotika:
http://www.discogs.com/Gigi-Galaxy-Lemu … ease/48738
All the tracks have a certain magic about them espacially "The Dream"!
To me it is maybe one of the most underestimated records out there.Definately worth a listen!
Cheers,
+1
^^sounds nice
really like that Hall track (a1) on the 3rd rick wilhite sampler on rush hour. only a bit of a shame that it's relatively short, there's a (pretty big) volume change after about 1:40 into the track, and the break is way too long. i need a seven minute version of that track.
haven't heard much more by the wee chap that i really like.
edit: en t is weer een kommetje/and it's a banana record again..
and then that pyschotic photosynthesis shit blew me away (the beatless one)
cool, I just picked that up for 2 euri, still have to listen
niet stilvallen hé!

I see a lot of the same spirit in the music coming from Chicago and Detroit, maybe it's just me, my tastes or… nah, I think the connections are not difficult to make. Chicago to Detroit (currently speaking which is what we have, the past is the past)… full support (as long as the music is good)! Plus, there is more heat coming from Chicago soon and not just from the usual suspects either. Things are getting exciting here.
Or maybe it's in the great lakes water, like Theo Parrish says on his Red Bull Music Academy interview.
man, I saw theo parrish last night and I think he got a hold of juanito's stash. never heard anyone drop some nu jazz in a set before
Great ones Ray! Windchime.. what a hit a few years back. Still sounds awesome.
Almost as good as Choke And Fly!
This trancey, ambientish Detroit stuff is such a pleasure every now and then:

I think the Omar S. hype is also probably because IF tends to play some of his tracks or something. All that talk of "soul" being in there to me is utter bull. Just some guy sequencing some shit in his basement.
you over estimate i-f's influence here though he did give him some props on the redbull academy he did a few years back. the reason why there was all the hype was omar-s started to release records when a lot of the detroit old guard had drifted into inactivity and people were desperate for the legacy to continue. was the hype justified? yes and no, in the last 7 years he has released a lot of music and some average on the other hand he has released some f**king bombs!!! i have been into detroit techno since the late 80s and some of omar-s stuff is up there with some of the best detroit tracks ever made. period.

not agree about i-f hyping omar.. ( i hate that hyping shit, what hype? ) heard stuff from him way before i-f put them in a mix ( and that's only 1 mix )
releasing to much stuff made him break up though, latest records he put out where pretty much average..
