Re: Films that get critical acclaim but are rubbish!

i hatem movies that don't have an ost but lean on hits, like crappantino allways does and a lot of people after him.

i like true romance best, probably cause he didn't direct it.

i really liked no country, the no soundtrack at all really worked for me.

Showing the way for the modern man to become a Model Man.

"The Big Lebowski belongs nowhere on this page."

Neither does Heat! It's my fav film of all time

There will be Blood is also excellent - the critical acclaim did it justice! Sorry Overdose!

I also found Dark Knight a bit silly and quite camp! Maybe more camp than the Tim Burton one!

Re: Films that get critical acclaim but are rubbish!

Millers Crossing is cool too.. Raising Arizona too i think, was years since i saw it.

Re: Films that get critical acclaim but are rubbish!

Apocalypse Now

the soundtrack is cool (apart from the Doors - fuckin' hate them), the movie is overblown and adolescent!

Also 24 Hour Party People - another embarassing, post modern wank fest!

I love Factory but this is shite!

Re: Films that get critical acclaim but are rubbish!

the films are definitely debatable, especially the later ones. what i mean is i'll take the original star trek tv series over the star wars films any day...

all the David Lynch Movies (edit except Elephant Man).

No somo Roberto Succo

Re: Films that get critical acclaim but are rubbish!

Quite a few I know thinks bizarrity is the same as rubbish in Lynch's case. I like his style and how his movies give a little challenge to a viewer every time. Typical Hollywood trash is basically already chewed up and you just have to sit and swallow what you see.

No, It's a bit more complex than that. Tarantino thinks he's creating strong female characters - it's like saying alt porn is empowering! Meyers accepts he is a misoganist.

Someone also mentioned Dancer in the Dark, again another example of Lars Von Triers dubious view of women.

The only male director I know who is genuine and upfront about making a film that had a negative view of women was Polanski when he made Cul De Sac.

Now we could start a film about underated films?

The Big Lebowski is probably the funniest film I ever saw. You can hate on the Cohen bros (they made some very weak movies too), but how can one not love Big Lebowski ?

Way overrated in my opinion: Fight club
