Re: Should I buy...
I've only read good reviews about it. Check the thread on vintagesynth.org
I imagine it would be awesome for live use.

"a price tag around 800 Euros +/- 10%." according to matrixsynth. you can get a real 808 for that.
Not any more Mr Olaf, unless your quite lucky.
Got the problem...
I sold my broken Yamaha CS50 long time ago for 500E.
Guy gave me only 250E and he still owe me rest of the money.
I asked him today if is there any chance to get my CS50 or money back.
He said that he can exchange it for my not fully working RE501 (only reverb and chorus are working).
Synth is almost working now. It's still bit detuned, but rest is OK.
I don't know what to do...
Get the CS50 back those things are quickly rising in price and are pretty rare
a cs50 is a lot rarer and more expensive than a 501..
Ofcourse you can get a 808 for 800e
Where??? Il get one more!
Be fast Erroraudio and may the force be with you ;-)

Good Luck!
oops ... price is rising very faaaast .....
well, 1032 euro with about 150-200 euro worth of parts comes close to 800..
and it was owned by a member of franco battiato's team, so it has history too!
ebay is still not the real world...
you know people pay ebay to have their stuff on there. and to have maniacs all over the world fighting over it.
i know some people who bought 808's in the past few years... 500
what parts do you need? I have a shit load of spares. I need the tap switch as well.
I bought my 808 and sh-09 for 700
800euro is very cheap at the moment for a 808.
Yamaha TG-77 at 134
Get the CS50 back (...)
Going to pick it up on wednesday.
I know the guy who has original Elektor Vocoder in original case.
How much is this thing worth?
He don't know what he got and he don't know the value of this box (me neither).
He is not sure if he wants to sell it, but probably he will.
Roland R-5 for $30?...is it worth the trouble of going to pick it up / space in my studio?
What's a fair price for a Yamaha CS-10???
How much do you guys think a TR-707 is worth?
In euro's it used to be 150, but lately prices went up to 175 - 200, depending on the state (sliders, color, original psu, manual). I'm told Brazil isn't exactly gear heaven, so probably the prices will be even a bit higher.
Edit: oh yeah, and check it for battery leakage and see that all the sounds work.

30 is ok..

I just paid $200 US for a 707. I thought it was a good price because they are going for an average of about $300 US i think on eBay. I got mine from craigslist, works perfectly and came with manual.
On another note, there was a post for a "in perfect condition" tr-909 on craigslist for $600 US. I thought this had to be some kind of joke.. the post was up for about 2 hours when i caught it so i e-mailed him quickly and didn't get a response thinking it was sold in seconds. He put it up again though the next day (yesterday) so i e-mailed again... still haven't got a reply. I don't think that post can be real?

Yeah there was a great post for a tb-303 the other week in Brooklyn...some dude, in a late 80's early 90's punk band...had this "funny bass synthesizer" around...bought it for a few hundred in the 80's, figures it must be worth about $150 now.
I emailed immediately...and then again after an hour. Never heard back.
My emai address probably ended up in some shady database.
lol .. very sketchy!

The guy selling it is asking for something around 280 dollars. Actually it's not that expensive, for brazillian standards. Maybe I'll get it, but I still need to see it personally. It's an opportunity, since one of those don't show up very often. You know, I have never, in my whole life, seen anyone selling an 808 here in Brazil. Nor a 303.
I'd go get it. For the prices they go for, it's a very underrated machine and that bassdrum sound has kinda become hip in house again. Great step programmer.
