Re: Should I buy...

The Polaris is a more expensive american style synth with a more "solid" sound then the SIEL. I think a SIEL Opera 6 goes for 300ish euro and Polaris go in the direction of a 1000 euro.

The Opera 6 is the same as the DK600 and Siel KIWI, if you can find the last one go for that cause its just awesome how it sais KIWI in giant letters on the back (the story was that the KIWI was especially for the german market and there was already a synth called Banana so the SIEL ept. thought germans liked fruit names for their synthesizers)

Re: Should I buy...

yes, I saw the KIWI once at Boemtsjak, he's said it was yours...
Maybe start with a SIEL opera 6 / dk600 / kiwi, let's see what it does.

Listen to SEER Radio every Sunday at 21.00 hrs on The Dream Machine, previous SEER Radio shows

Re: Should I buy...

... a fully working, unmodified LM-2 (serial number in the 200s) for 520 euro?

i can pick it up not too far from here, so no shipping, no import hassles.

Re: Should I buy...

Not too bad, if you like that sound get it I guess

kawai k1 and dx7?
for the first one,the guy wants 180 euros, and for the dx7,340.

Seem like high prices to me.  I wouldn't pay more than 100 for a K1, 200 max for a DX7.  They'd have to be in great condition and I'd have to be very in the mood to buy one.  The K1 would make a neat little master keyboard but the DX7 is a bit of a monster, and doesn't transmit full velocity (max of 100).

Re: Should I buy...

tr-505 .. already have it at my place, but i don't know what prize i should suggest to the guy who's selling it to me.

Re: Should I buy...

GM: Beware, the SIEL Opera 6 can suffer from leaky batteries, like the Korg Polysix. I bought one like that (cheaper, cos no memory worked). Luckily the memory and battery is on a totally different circuit board (under the keyboard), so leaky batteries will not kill voices or anything bad like on the Polysix.
Memories are overated anyway, just use coloured crayons to mark your patches !

In the local ads here it goes for about 75-150$ CAD.
It's not bad, personally I would'nt buy it, but max 100$ would seem reasonable these days.

thanks... i know it's not that special, but it's kinda like saving it from death from some horrible rock'n'roll training room kinda thing smile .. when using it through midi, it's not that far from that 707 sound imo. no external outs tho...

Re: Should I buy...

oops wrong thread...

Re: Should I buy...

Should i get a casio cz-5000 for 100$?

Re: Should I buy...

Yes, sell it for more if you don't like it.

Re: Should I buy...

Siel DK-80 for $200 Canadian?

Someone is selling a minty one locally.  Admittedly, I'm mostly curious about it because you don't see Siel stuff pop up very much around here.

Re: Should I buy...

I would pick it up, Indeed I've never seen a Siel for sale here in MTL, lots of Crumars and some Elkas though.

Re: Should I buy...

Actually I think I'm going to pass.  I have a P600 and a 106 and I don't know that the DK-80 will really offer anything special that isn't already covered.  I'm not sure I have the time/patience for that kind of interface these days either.

As a side note, I have seen one other Siel for sale here in Winnipeg in the last 15 or so years...I forget the model but it was the same thing as the Arp Quartet.  I've never seen an Elka around these parts.

Re: Should I buy...

I know the Siel you mean. A local band had one here.

Someone here locally is selling a CS80! I'm so excited. He listed it tonight on VSE and has already got back to me twice. I don't think my offer will be good enough but he's going to let me come to his place and play it and test all the features for him. It was his dad's apparently it's immaculate. I am dizzy.

Re: Should I buy...

Holy crap plikes!  A CS-80 sure would look nice alongside your T8.  I just hope you have a lot of space!  Good luck.

Re: Should I buy...

I have the space. Probably just not the money. To play it would be fun though.

Re: Should I buy...

Do you have the repair fund?

Re: Should I buy...

is your floor hard enough? it quite literally weighs a ton..

Re: Should I buy...

Haha. No I don't have much of a repair fund set up. And who in Edmonton would I trust to repair it? At least Cantos is down in Calgary and I'd trust their head tech (JL). I probably won't get it. I offered 3000 and quite literally I can't make more than that happen. We've been in lots of communications and he's mentioned that some other people have offered a lot more money but not locally. I just gave him a lot of advice. Make sure he doesn't get scammed, make sure that he doesn't include shipping in the agreed price, let him know that shipping is going to be a pain in the ass.

He also mentioned that it hasn't been turned on for 20 years. Something to watch out for sure.

My floor's hard enough mos def. In the basement. Concrete foundation.

But yeah at this point it would be fun to just touch it and play it.

Re: Should I buy...

hey, just casually mentioning ''my cs80'' in conversations here will put you straight at mono-poly level.. big_smile

but the ''not turned on in 20 years'' rings all sorts of alarm bells... you could be in for serious trouble there.. or maybe also not..
