Because of a dispute I had not spoken with him for about four years. Now when i see some of the photos the police had taken of his home i can see the decline - and that absolutely hurts my soul, deeply. Darkness. In retrospect i wish i had tried to make peace... Don't repeat that mistake.

If i remember right you lost a parent suddenly a couple a years ago, which mean you must know (i speculate) the strange feeling not to be able to 'tie loose ends'. Perhaps not that uncommon but still a strange feeling. They are there, and suddenly they are not.

The fact that we hadn't spoken for four years, and the state he lived eats me up. Pride ain't worth it.

I got his two year old cat from a shelter the other day, will try to give it a good life. Yesterday it was funeral plans, today I trimed his lawn and so on.

I'm sorry for your loss coae. I've had a very similar situation a few years ago, but simpler in many ways - I never actually knew my father, and I decided I wanted nothing to do with the stuff he left behind, just let the city burn it all. Still, I had to go get DNA-swabbed so they could verify it was his remains, which was pretty heavy ...

Thanks. I Can image having to leave dna must have felt strange. I have some half siblings that have a similar view on the situation as you had. For me it's more of an sentimental overload, and not that easy to pick and choose. He was an artist so paintings is a priority.

Correct, my mom died suddenly in traffic. Was lucky to not have loose ends with her myself. My brother was in an ongoing fight with her though. He felt really bad. Problaby still does.

Yeah i remember you wrote about that accident sometime during the covid outbreak. The feel bad part I will share with your brother, for the rest of my life. Sigh...
