Saw you posting about that that second album (Electric Eyes, right?) a while ago and I'm curious about that one (especially if it's more electronic). I'll keep my ("electric") eyes open when digging the crates.
yes, I really was happy when I found this. Some ppl don`t like the voice, but there are children singing too and it has some real disco moments in the melodies, a weird mixture. I still recommend that one. You`ll find it surely...

Some said Portion Control couldn't be considered EBM. Then again the boundaries of what is EBM were never set.

great thread, i used to be really into this stuff when it was new in the 80's (and made some at the time too..) but i never saw all these videos..
Been to a skinny puppy performance two years ago: was still strong stuff!
saw them live on the vivisect tour in '88 in lvc, leiden. one of the most insane shows i've ever seen..

Haha, if I listen to EBM today and see the videos/pictures you post and think of the clubs I went to 15 years ago, the bands I saw and the people I met, one very strong feeling strikes me:
I have become old
And it's quite a good feeling actually...
I mean: Come on, "insane shows with torture devices on stage", appearances like the Hocico guys above, gasmasks, violence, machines, war and sex.
It might be cool when you're 20 but when grown up men do it it's rather pathetic, isn't it?
Back in the days though, in some shady EBM club after drinking too much vodka, when going berzerk on the dancefloor to Push! by the Invincible Spirit, Deutschmaschine by And One, Verschwende deine Jugend by DAF or Murderous by Nitzer Ebb, the feeling was sometimes amazing.
But as someone already wrote, to me EBM is only fun for a little while.
Did anybot already mention Die Krupps? Apoptygma Berzerk? Leaetherstrip? Vunker Vogt? Covenant?
Some of their best stuff could be called EBM I guess.

why is it pathetic if grown men dress up on stage to do something different to entertain? it's what being in a band is. at least skinny puppy appaerntly know what their strength is, and doesn't try like some other bands to make a desperate attempt to ''be with the times''. anyone remember 242 doing trance remixes of their old tracks? THAT's pathetic.
if i listen to the good EBM today, i still love it after all these years. but there is also a lot of trash out there, it was the reason i stopped listening to it in the early 90's and i still can't stand the stuff. i also don't like the ebm/techno crossovers, i guess my taste would go more to what a band like ministry became...
