Floating Points
Floating Points is one of the most exciting music producers and DJs to come out of the UK recently. A classically trained musician and PhD student in neuroscience, Sam Shepherd, has the same passion as Melting Pot for sound quality; understanding that the better the sound system, the better the night. He is a resident at Plastic People in London and has been instrumental in the current refurbishment in the sound system, adding in high-end hi-fi components to take it further than most other clubs in the world.
Sam is also co-founder of Eglo Records, home to the likes of Fatima and FunkinEven, with his 7" "For you" the first release, followed up with the excellent Vacuum EP, played by disco to techno DJs. His production work, like his DJing, crosses genre barriers. Expect to hear everything from jazz, to disco, funk, house, techno.
His interest in all things analogue - from synths to drum machines, vinyl to tape - has shaped his sound and style into a warm and textured collage of past, present and beyond, genre-less in its nature, unpredictable and ever impressive, it's not hard to see why Floating Points' music stands out so much in today's sonic landscape.
We think he's going to love playing on our newly updated turntables with SME arms and high-end Dynavector moving coil cartridges!
Floating Points and Melting Pot - a match made in heaven!

Colin Cook & Colin Walker (.GHOST.)
Colins, Cook & Walker, have been DJ sparing partners for years, though they are just getting together to bring you .GHOST. their first night together in Glasgow in November at The Old Hairdressers. Before that though, we have them playing at Melting Pot! Colin Cook has been on the scene in the east coast for many years, being resident at Ultragroove when it first started, and more recently launched a new night, Realfaze, in his home town of Dumferline. Drawing on a love of all things house, techno, jazz, funk, soul and disco, he is definitely got the Melting Pot spirit. Colin Walker has also been DJing for many years, with gigs in Glasgow and the east coast too, with a huge house collection. Expect the emphasis to be on the unsung deeper side of house and techno.
