Greg Wilson
Melting Pot and The Electric Frog join forces to bring you a Boxing Day spectacular!
Following on from The Electric Frog's sell out Boxing Day bash last year with Moodymann, we've managed to persuade Greg Wilson to bring A Night With... to Glasgow. The idea is that Greg gets to play an extended set to allow him the freedom to play across the board and take the night wherever he fancies. This is a very rare opportunity to see Greg take control for a 5 hour set. He brought it to London last year for a sold out night at Loft Studios. Greg has focussed the "A Night With.." event on three cities - London, Manchester and Glasgow. This is a night not to be missed!
Fresh from another action packed summer of festival frolics where Greg played: Glastonbury, Lovebox, Bestival, Festival No 6, Wickerman and The Garden Festival in Croatia to name a few, plus a US tour, he's been continuing to produce with some notable remixes for the likes of Bryan Ferry, The xx, Psychemagic and Crazy P over the last year or two. His Soundcloud account has a feast of mixes to download and has over the 1 million plays!
Greg is unashamedly one of Melting Pot's favourite guests and one that we all very much look forward to putting on. Melting Pot were one of the first clubs to have Greg play when he came out of his self imposed exile in December 2003. He had retired from DJing in 1983 whilst resident at Manchester’s legendary Hacienda, but not before he had placed his hallmark on the black music scene in the North of England, at clubs like Legend in Manchester and Wigan Pier, bringing the sounds of New York electro boogie to the UK.
Greg continues to go from strength to strength, with worldwide DJ dates from USA to Japan, Australia, Brazil, all over Europe and the summer festival circuit. His BBC Essential Mix from 2009 is already thought of as one of the best in the 20 year old series - a total classic! In between that, his production work is still prodigious with various remixes and edits finding their way out on a plethora of labels, including his own Ruff Edits label.
We will be treated to another electro, boogie, funk workout by the master himself, along with his trusty Revox reel to reel machine.

We will be using the Melting Pot sound system from The Admiral, provided by ALive Sound in conjunction with Loud & Clear Hi-Fi, to ensure we make Hillhead Bookclub sound spectacular. We do it all for you, the dancer, to give you the best experience we can!
As with last years event, we will transform the Bookclub building into classic disco cavern.
