Idjut Boys

It's been over 5 years since we last hosted The Idjut Boys at Melting Pot, and frankly, it was about time we got them back to Glasgow.

Since they last played with us they have been busy in the Studio, firstly with Rune Lindbaek as Meanderthals, and then with their debut album as Idjuts Boys, Cellar Door, both on the rather wonderful Smalltown Supersound label. They've been right on it recently with some amazing remixes too; their Make It Acid remix of J Kriv being a total Melting Pot floor filler, and also a big track for Cosmo at The Loft. That's not all, there are brand new remixes out now for Paqua on Mudd's excellent Claremont 56 label, plus mixes for Daniele Baldelli and Bryan Ferry doing the rounds too.

Idjut Boys are Dan Tyler and Conrad McDonnell, they hooked up as a production and DJ partnership whilst going to Harvey's Tonka parties in Brighton in the late '80s early '90s. A move to London led to their U-Star parties and a record label of the same name. They had various other labels during the '90s too: Noid, Discfunction, and more recently Droid; which have all become incredibly collectable. With some rather amusing track and album titles: "The Shoeing That You Deserve" anyone?

They are also known for their lengthy DJ sets, where anything goes. Lovers of music, they play "whatever we can get away with". The ideal Melting Pot guests in that case!
