Topic: Poly61 key contact problem

Hello everyone,

I own a Korg Poly 61, with the infamous shitty key contact problem.
Kind of like what old remote controllers suffer from too.
Almost half of the keys dont work.

I tried cleaning them several times, but to no avail.
I also tried rubbing a soft pencil on them, but that didn't work either.

I found this stuff: http://www.oaktreeent.com/Korg_Keyboard_Parts_Units.htm

Does anyone know if this goo works?  And if so, can you get something similar in Europe / Holland?

This is the poly61 without midi, so if all this doesnt work.
Does anyone know of a cheap midi-kit? No bullshit expensive kenton kits preferably..

Its a pretty cool synth but nothing amazing, so I don't want to spend too much money on it..

Re: Poly61 key contact problem

You may need to repair the rubber caps with conductive contact paint then neutral not a fun job.

Have you ever tried it? Will that work?

Re: Poly61 key contact problem

I am using a BondLoc conductive Silver Paint (Maplin U.K, Radioshack U.S.) stuff. It looks like the same kinda stuff.
But I am sure you could get something similar at your local electronics parts retailer. and perhaps cheaper if you shop round.

On a good read and a price check its pretty cheap what he is offering..

Re: Poly61 key contact problem

Yeah, but they wont ship to Europe. FAA regulations bullshit..
So I will see where else I can get it.

Thanks!
