Re: Basel

i dont know about the record store mentioned above, honestly i think you can forget about spending money on records in basel tho....

but i highly recommend taking any of the old waterpowered water taxis that cross the Rhine.  i think there are three of them and the cost about 1 franc.  just look for the steel cables crossing the river.

The tanguely museum is worth a visit.  actually there are several really good art museums in basel.

Basel is a really nice place to just walk around in .  especially in the old city center.  go get lost in the little side streets that go up the hill sides .  i highly recommend it if your into pleasant strolls.

if you cross over to the Messe side of the city you can go to the Kasserne for a beer. there are a few good pubs over there.  they are close to the redlight district.  sorry i dont know any names.  just keep your eyes open.  anyway everyone just hangs out on the river to drink and smoke dope.

i wasn't being serious. there's a city rivalery thing between basel and zurich (mainly so from people in basel; zurich doesn't care too much). while basel has some strong points it pales in comparison to zurich when it comes to the music scene. BUT it was a key "entry point" for the whole rap/hip hop sub culture back in the 80s AFAIK.

Re: Basel

funny, I have been more or less everywhere in CH but I always skipped Basel... even if it is one of the biggest railway hub over here tongue
