Yeah, I think if you hit them with too much italo all at once, they can't handle it. It's like drugs, you have to build up a tolerance. Therefore, I'll throw a vote for Paudical - Absolute Beginners

I have here moustache radio part 2 with david Vunk mark du Mosch and Ian martin,  it rocks, but not sure where i got it, or if there is a part one? if they dont like the records played on that then i'd just forget about trying to convince them

DMP's Eightythree In Rimini and I-G's Woman And Car are the two italo mixes I listen to all the time.  I'm listening to FD's Italo Classix mix as I type this, and while the tracks and mixing are fantastic, it would've been great if he'd extended the track times a bit more and played fewer tracks overall.  It's just personal preference, but I like hearing more of a song in a mix rather than less, except in hip-hop/rap DJ mixes.

I love Woman and Car, that's definitely a good one. Also Robotnick's Snapshots of a Happy Time (I think it's around under some other names as well)

i wouldn't suggest any flemming dalum mixes (as much as i love them!) - most of his material is too obscure, and songs often appear heavily edited. he's easily one of my all-time favorite dj's, but definitely not for beginners. (although his 'dark italo' mix might be a good way to appeal to techno and ebm fans, as the songs are very dry and aggressive, and there are not many vocals). same thing for DMP - great mixes, but too much hardcore italo for the beginner.
it's an obvious suggestion, but for the average listener, i would suggest something like mixed up in the hague! good variety of classic italo, disco, and electro - and nothing too cheesey, which might scare away the uninitiated. if they can get into mixed up in the hague, you'll have a good chink in their armor - also that i-f mix that starts with decadance, which one is that? i got a bunch of people into italo through that mix years and years ago...
'woman and car' is also a good one, for sure...

doesnt FDs new italo classix mix have all the classix (im too advanced for it)
for me it will always be 'mixed up in the hague'  kinda eases you into it

Have to agree there. I think the pleasure of this new FD mix is for nerds to play name that tune every 12 seconds
