Trust me, I am
wow, that dmp 'mix 83 in rimini' is seriously hot
was dmp a robot over on the cbs anyone know?
yeah i've been enjoying this mix the past two days. i have a number of these tracks by themselves including a remix of b.w.h. and the message by grandmaster flash, but really looking forward to hearing the other mixes.
like lina said though maybe this is perfect because they wont get an italo O.D.
puts it in a more accesible context basically, while still remaining totally uncomprimising
i getcha...but for me it depends how much you want them to like italo, and what it is that sends you into a mad-grinning dance frnzy when you hear a hot track...if you have to be gentle with them then maybe you're already diluting the appeal it has for you. i'm not at all interested in over-analysing or dissecting for the sake of it...all i know i that i was told by a friend that he put 83in rimini on at a party i wasn't at, and later his friends were fighting over trying to steal the cd...encouraged, i gave the same friend rob & zoopsie's tesis mix, which he said was coolexx...them i shipped him FD's boogie down rimini, and all of a sudden it was too much, he didn't dig it at all. but no sweat, i had no vested interest in him liking italo; i was just as likely to burn him dopplereffekt/omar s/eduard artemiev...
well i love italo and i still think some tracks are going to sound even better , put me in more of a dance frenzy, if there mixed in with some other stuff too. Old chicago radio dj shows for instance rocked because of this, and imo got more people into italo this way. as well as the other stuuf too of course.
i never said be gentle though
anyway cebteq is probably right, it matters less on the mix than on the people
i never said be gentle though
you didn't, of course. sorry i mis-paraphrased! and i entirely understand what you say about chicago shows, and MUINTH too...i'd never argue that these tracks shouldn't be mixed in with other styles, sometimes to devastating effect...just that if i had a friend who asked me 'so what is this italo shite you're always going on about?' and decided to give them an idea, then it would be a broader sweep of italo tracks, rather than the odd one thrown into an albeit amazing mix...again i don't want to talk as if this matters so much, but i'dlike to think that those who i'd deem it fitting to play this kinda stuff to would have the inclination to look up the tracks that did it for thjem, and then jump down whatever rabbit-hole they came across if it turned them on
Spacid - Theme From Radius
Good for beginners, all classics but it's mostly instrumental versions, those cheesy lyrics might scare the italo-virgins away...
as soon as they become comfortable with the dormant emotions that re-emerge you can introduce them to FD - flowing through my veins of steel. absolutely killer mix.
Lina what about IG Live at Stubnitz? I've played that for a few non-italoers and it has gone down pretty well, as well it should

Good call. I threw that one on for my mom a few times. She hasn't broken yet, but I'd say it's just a matter of time.
The fact that you have managed to play it for her more than once is very promising. I can only imagine what my mother would make of it
a great mix too,one of the first (cheesy?) italo mix i heard, from our swedish friend Rutherford :

I-F - Mixed up @ Atlantic Avenue worked magic for me... I heard this one from the Viewlexx web site at the time (I don't recall the title, I thought live in Brooklyn was in there somewhere but this tracklist is definitely the same). I was so enamored that I started asking anyone I could find to identify what the tracks were, and then got a copy of mixed up in the hague. I think I'd recommend the Atlantic Ave mix first for the fact that there are a lot of the same tracks, but its longer , more "space" for them to breathe, and that stunning Automat opening track, among others !!!! By the time they get to Spacer Woman, maybe they will be in tears like I was!
Or you could have them Google Video search the tunes listed here.

Some good ones listed there. They can also get a bit of reference in reading the piece too.
Haha, blatant plug but just enough synths and cheesed out vocals here for this to qualify. Maybe too many 'non-italo' tracks to truly be seen as a pure ITALO mix though.
