when it comes to fruits i like the strawberry caipirinha and the melontini the most.
and whilst summer time im also a punch fan (maybe no cocktail, but whatever 
), best is with pineapple or strawberrys or melon 
as the man called meschi said above, i'm more into well-made, generously proportioned long drinks than cocktails; moved away from the once sacred vodka tonic after i realised the sacrilege of drinking good vodka anything other than straight - though i did once have this thing called a 'polish martini', which was a measure each of bison grass vodka, honey vodka & a blue label vodka whose name escapes me, shaken & served with apple peel. sounds pretty strong but was smooth as fuck, all about quality vodkas in it. white russians are an occasional delight, other than that these days i'm getting more into dark rum (Caney Anejo - Cuba's finest 
), and will always be a sucker for caipirinhas where they're done properly.

A nice trick i learned a few ways back is to rub lemon on the rim of the glass. Very effective.
mmm yeah, no gin & tonic is ever complete without hefty amounts of lime-rim-rubbing
edit: @meschi - mmm-hmm, that's the one. bought a bottle of the Caney blanco back from cuba 4 years back, along with a bottle of Santiago - i'd asked 3 different Cuban caballeros which rums they thought were the best in Cuba and they all said those two. saw the dark anejo in london and went for it, not too cheap but extra special for sure!

A good slice of cucumber adds wonderful taste for a that great Hendricks Gin Tonic, wouldnt rub lime on that one...

Also there is a new local rum called Seven Fathoms. It is aged in casks that are stored at seven fathoms depth in the waters surrounding Cayman - the slight movement of the water on the casks is supposed to lead to an excellent flavour.

There is however nothing worse than a poooorrly made cocktail.
Man i got to brush up on my cocktail knowledge, i worked in cocktail bars for 3 yrs but i can only remember like 5 cocktails straight off. We used to have tests on them too and the amount i made every night, shameful.
Mind i used make some killer cocktails, i used to put extra in for my friends and people i liked, they would be falling off the stool after a few.
But cocktails arent all about the strength how much booze is in them, its about balance innit.
Hey meschi you were talking about expensive tequila, one the bars i worked in specialised in tequila. think the most expensive shot we had was like 15 or 20 quid, the top shelf shit!. We never did orange and cinnamon tho, i not heard that, must be a new london thing, just lime and the tequila in a sipping glass, yur supposed to sip it like a good brandy, oh lord wanky bars aahhh!

apart from that, a variation of the moscow mule is very refreshing. just add some cucumber pieces and there you go.
another one of my favourites called beton: becherovka tonic.
everything else straight, please. and don't dare approaching me with red bull. fucking nasty smelling teenage bullcrap.
