Nice surprise to see Neural Acid on there. But a shame it's a vinyl rip. And too fast. It sound better downpitched.

Review at Electroempire !

While listening to the album i'd classify it as cryogenic italian electrofunk.

If you are funk-centered don't pass this on just yet. Andrea Benedetti is a known figure and accomplish in the Rome area. Involved and friends with the Finalfrontier crew, the legendary producer Lory D. and being a lecturer, journalist and DJ he made his mark for sure. Now for the funk part: it is not obviously there but listen carefully. I wouldn't categorize the album as stiff white funk nor Parliament funk style. Italian funk maybe, if such a style exists.

Somehow it does arrive as a debut. Of course Sprawl has created tracks in the passed. Just take a look at the other releases. Now for the electropart, that cannot be missed. Mr. Benedetti created several unheard sounds. Yes, the machines are on a roll. At this time of writing electrofollowers will recognize Sprawl from the track Mechanic Phunk (The Exaltic Remix), which entered the Street Sound Nu Electro chart in week 44, 2009. Keith Tucker adds a remix to the album in his usual style with recognizable K-1 beats albeit he misses the italian funkfinesse.
Although the release has this italian finesse i do have doubts if this could be Andrea's best work. When i compare it with releases by for instance Marco Passarani. Metro Area or say early Derrick May my mind gets hmm's and but errr's, as yours might if you happen to know them.

Next nice review...

Liquid for Electronique.it
Andrea Benedetti is one of those people dedicated to the music, its theory, experimentation of new forms of communication, and judicious study of rhythm, never dwelling too long on a particular style, because that would mean fossilizzarsi.Andrea told us the story , pages and pages of history, offering first-person, through the pioneering work of his Plasmek Records, a label founded by the effluvia of conversations that in the early 90s a group of visionaries loved to keep in dark nights full of music ed'inventiva .
His profile is invariably linked to techno, a real adoration for Detroit, which has allowed him to dig deep, keeping alive an awareness from deep funk that has always represented the dynamic sound of the Motor City.
After years of inactivity, the project here resurgence Sprawl, aka through which Andrea has released four EPs on the Plasmek.
This time, to take care of her music is great Solar One Music, German label to which we must work the best electro in the last two years, and the answer is that great.
The album opens with "Neural Acid", a song already released as a B-side for a 12 "records on behalf Sysmo New Acid Generation, an acid based on a rolling apparatus synthetic rhythmic and steady, then 303 in distorted spectra and electro the background was pure magic.
"Sonic Attack Of The Army projects the disk in a surreal dimension, hot rhythm section, inserts and synth vocal vocoderizzati acids and sharp, the music is more melodic end in itself but a set of layers where each instrument interacts with sound the other only for intersection. A vision absolutely free and outside the box of electronic music, a clear message to those trying to take away the courage to their songs. "Mechanic Phunk" continued plowing through the wave minimalism industry that wants to be a tribute EBM played in the 80s.
"Time is a monster groove electrofunk all plastic and breathtaking cash which had already seen light in the compilation of" Electroma (now deceased Roman festival dedicated to electronic music) that gives way to the incredible power of "Bass Trap" best song of the album , orgiastic synthesis of all the musical influences of the artist, a track that combines the best of the shameless gushing of electro techno to mathematical precision, using glue as a magma explosive funk.
Thanks to the initiative of labels such as the Solar One Music, we can still enjoy the experimentation and excess of certain forms of communication already forgotten, returning to appreciate the error as well as private music of nothing.
Andrea is still very good when it takes us in that anguished breath that is "Unknown Enemy" or the fast electro of "X-51". "Last Warning" is a track with clear references to some of the early 90's European electronics and in closing, again an industrial monolith as "blaast" giant sharp break and pure metal.
The Exaltics cares in the finale of "Mechanic Phunk" adding that dark path typical of German champions, while Keith Tucker (Aux half of the 88) carries the "X-51" directly in the Detroit area by ghosts that come out have not seen for some time .

A disc for real soldiers!
