Topic: DJ case apprehended in club during police raid

It happened this weekend here in Brazil.

The police went to the club to check the security staff working there. They suspected they weren't legal, "official" security personnel. OK, no problem about that. But, during their stay in the club, the police also apprehended the DJ's CD case. It was during his set and the police stopped everything and took him and all his stuff to the precinct.
The police said they did that because he was using pirate CDs and that's against the law. The DJ said all his music was bought in online mp3 stores.

The next day, they let him go with his CDs.

That's a shame. Nothing like this had ever happened here in Brazil.

Do you know of similar situations? I don't think it has ever happened anywhere in the world.

I doubt bias will get much visitors when he's in prison.

Honey, in the morning the bees are singing and the birds are stinging in an open head surgery.

Re: DJ case apprehended in club during police raid

in poland you cant even play from copies of your own legal cds/records.
now they introduced some lincense, so if you pay you can play anything, doesn't matter if it's legal or not, it's like telling piracy is ok, just give us a cut.
it's of course ridicoulous, because that means you can't play for fun ocassionally as it cost too much.
also if you run a club you have to pay some tax to those "artist protection" organizations (there are like 3 or more and they all can ask you to pay.. wtf) even if you play only music of independent artists and they won't get any money.

That's almost the same in the Netherlands, the last part... Only we have one or two protection organizations and you have to pay those organizations to get you money...

Re: DJ case apprehended in club during police raid

I remember a story about dutch dj laidback luke being apprehended at customs with a case full of cdr's under suspicion of smuggling bootlegs. Never heard of someone apprehened while djing tho, but the way things are going it wouldn't surprise me if Brein would start crashing parties looking for "illegal" copies...

Re: DJ case apprehended in club during police raid

just wait til they get wind of bootleg 12"s being played out
