Re: Apocalypse Now appreciation thread

I didn't like Dennis Hopper in this.  I felt like he kind of messed up the end for me.  Still a great movie, though.

yeah, after hearing that part in your language of numbers mix, I knew I had to see that movie and the rest was history. I'm gonna buy that Hearts of Darkness video.

I thought Dennis Hopper ruled in that movie. He was being totally Dennis Hopper, which is awesome.

Re: Apocalypse Now appreciation thread

I'm also curious, what is up with this Ford Coppola guy?

Seems like he made that absolutely brilliant movie, credited 3 or 4 times in it, and then goes on to direct or produce all these crappy movies? Looks like he directed both of the "Jeepers Creepers" movies. Is there anything else of his that has the same qualities as this movie?

Re: Apocalypse Now appreciation thread

this film is the max, allthough redux is a little bit to long

As said: Watch "heart of darkness: a filmmaker's apocalypse" then you know why he never made any good movie again, and also why this movie is so excellent - the whole shooting was pretty much like the movie. yikes!!!

martin sheen delivers for me one of the most incredible acting performances ever - no wonder because he really felt like the person he represented in the movie. wink

I prefer Full Metal Jacket myself. That film is flawlessly brutal.

Re: Apocalypse Now appreciation thread

the redux version is too long and i never liked the ending scene, too much wanking going on there, but otherwise this film is one of the great warfilms.
