Re: New COCKpits & GearPics

What I mean by set it up Proper is alot of the setup is the Actual Mic Channel Strip I have to Patchup: External Preamp, compressor, some EQ. The Clarity improves like that. Also once you tame the vocal dynamics you can control the amount of 'Fuzz' on the Novation. That is what I was daydreaming about  in a Fantasy Korg unit, is for a company to step up and give all those tools in one box. Not just plug in your Mic and put up the gain. I believe that Kurzweil was going to attempt that on there VA synth. The one that got scrapped.

The Nova Vocoder tinkering on the unit itself does not take that Long once i set up the channel strip. Everything becomes clear.

yeah that is always a hassle, the creamware vocodizer needed also a beefy compressor/limiter on the mic to get the good results etc.

Re: New COCKpits & GearPics

the very nature of a vocoder requires that you do this. to get a good sound from one opf the high end vocoders, it needs to be set up properly. same goes for the smaller hardware ones.

its what i love about the micro modular vocoder, the patch has all that shit built in already. literally plug andp lay..

@kroko: that looks very nice, this board. why not draw this shadow from the cd-players to the wall?

my mate bought this beauty very quick yesterday. really not bad from my first impressions. has some probs with some knobs, but i think he can fix it.

Re: New COCKpits & GearPics

Nice! I was never able to get some split channels, I kinda envy your mate for having those smile

When (if) you start servicing the Dayner's modules, be very careful unhooking the module ribbons (you'll find two strings of ribbons, on top and on the bottom of each module). Both the connectors and ribbons are build quite badly and the ribbons are not modular themselves, which means you can't take the ribbon strings apart*. So if you fuck one up, you fuck 'em all up. It's a big design flaw for a modular desk, it actually makes it semi-modular.
Since this is the 31 channel chassis I'm quite sure you can dismount the bottom plate (I can on mine) and unhook the ribbons from there. On my 42 channel frame the base plate is welded to the frame which makes it much harder to service and easier to fuck those ribbons up.

*I can only be 100% sure about the ribbons on Dayners with the old 'DR' logo (without the '&' imposed on the D and R fonts). Yours has the newer 'D&R' logo, and I once was told D&R changed the ribbon design when they changed the company logo so maybe this is what they changed. But until you're absolutely sure, you'll need to be cautious. I have both sets of modules, thus with the old and new logo, but I don't dare to touch the newer modules until I really need to smile

Re: New COCKpits & GearPics

brian, thank you for your input here. that saved us having trouble with this thing. that was close, because i suggested to open it. thanks god, we are sooo lazy.
the board was really covered with dust when he got it, but now, after a while, the crackels vanish, but it needs a service anyway. good to know, we have to be careful. we both thought, it

You should read comments on Legowelt (and other pseudonyms) tracks on youtube or posts. Even the advice on the cheap roland soundcanvas rompler is well known in smackos fan circles around the net. Of course is Jesus only second wink
