i dont think vinyl is good for music like this, there's no space on vinyl for all these high frequencies.

no more "retarded" than DJs who listened to tapes in the 80s!
vinyl forever.
@ytz, you cant mix with tapes so there was a legitimate reason DJs kept vinyl in the 80s
it's a bit smartass to say so - but didn't danny krivit mix with tapes?
i take your point, tho. (still think "retarded" is a bit harsh)
haha just trying to shake the rock solid foundation of your guys's beliefs!
@ceb dare i suggest a name change - from econobot to iconoblot?
nice touch with the "L" but not abstract enough

yawn...
it's got nothing to do with "beliefs"
it's very simple: I want to listen to my music everywhere, not only at home
it's pretty hard playing vinyl records while driving or biking
^^so why do you need the vinyl then?
i pretty much only buy vinyl, but then i pretty much only listen to music when its on my record players, or on the radioo.
i cant see the point of buying the vinyl, then getting the mp3 from it, and not listening to the vinyl, why not just buy the mp3, listen to that everywhere including home, and feel totally future-proof at the same time
I think it's a good idea. I did include some digital copies with the first DYFR releases as well especially the ones I sold to friends who wanted the vinyl but usually play mp3. The vinyl as a piece of art and the digital version as the thing they listen to...
vinyl as art is so fail i cant even believe it :C
warp thinks its art too when they charge

i don't think anybody here said that they only play the vinyl once to generate the mp3...
even if you did do that though, there's an argument for it - if your hard drive crashes, you still have the physical copy to revert back to which you can use to regenerate the digital copy as many times as you want. i had a hard drive crash that resulted in me losing a few hundred quid worth of stuff that i had only bought digital copies of (yeah, i know i should have hard drive back ups, but the point remains i think ).
@nuk the belief I was referring to is if you want to be respected by your peers buy vinyl
so what if they do?
let people be and stop this teaching and preaching
I'm sorry I thought you started this thread to discuss why its good they're moving to digitial releases
I started this thread because I wanted to know what people thought about packages like this: buying vinyl and getting free mp3 or WAV downloads and to me it's interesting to read how and why people use all kinds of formats
it's obvious there are a lot of different opinions and that's great, but why do some people always feel the need to rub their opinion in others faces?
it's not really a question to you, Cebteq, I guess you were more or less joking with that "retarted" remark, but this negativity in general annoys me
I like to share opinions and agree to disagree
Hey man the truth hurts
Hey man the truth hurts
this is exactly what I mean
you just can't help yourself, can you?
I'll just ignore you from now on
