OMG. A modular analogue video synthesizer?
Now even VJs can claim that they can make videos....
but an original idea indeed... although I would never buy it.
cool? very. new? hardly. in 1974, EMS already had the Spectron Video synthesizer:
yes. vid synths existed back then.
I believe this is technically going to be the first commercially available modular video synth or something like that.
There's some old vids of modular video synths on youtube, like from the Rutt Etra and the Sandin. The first video is quite cool too watch (and hear), the 2nd is more a presentation.

Cool stuff, not totally my cup of tea in terms of 'yeah, I want one badly', but I've always been kinda fascinated by it cause as with synths, it pretty much evolved the same way.

thanks for using that expression, I had boiling water on the stove (for tea) and I had totally forgot...

funnily enough, BOB-SNARE from this forum did the electronic design of these modules.
:-)
we did a little impromptu A/V analogue jam at a friends place a few weeks ago using a single 3U rack of these modules, and a simple video feedback system. You can do a lot of really fun stuff with just a few bits of gear, and it's very cool to watch the video move in time with sound and CV from your audio rig.
Are you going to reinvent digital video synths too?

yea. Him and lars worked (and still working on new modules) on the design.
It really is cool to hook up an audio rig to the video synth.
He has been using the prototype quite a bit for a few music acts. Just recently did the video for one of our live sets.
cool! yeah it's really good for generating visuals during live sets. really responsive to tweaking (in some funny unexpected ways if you don't fully understand the whole video synthesis thing, like me)
