Maybe... I really don't know if it could work out. For the most part, those limiters and record-and playback eq's are used to avoid the typical tape noise and compensate for the loss of frequency's. And I'm quite sure that these recorders will use a specific bias for specific tapes too, most likely for archive tapes that are really nasty for the recorder heads. As far as my understanding goes (I don't know a lot about it, I must stress that out), in theory music recordings made without pre-and post equalization should sound more noisy and less musical...
I reckon you could get everything aligned for music and maybe even switch boards if needed, but I wonder if 900 euro isn't a too tough price to find out it won't work as you hoped it would. You could give it a shot if you think you can re-sell it if you need to. Personally, and it's only my opinion, I think it is absolutely beautiful to look at but I'd leave it be and find something that I'm sure will work out. Heck, you moved house, you don't need a small recorder anyway
